What Are You Waiting For? by Jonathan Ellerby, PhD

I have two very strong feeling about the prophecies and interest in the “end date” of 2012. I have traveled around the world among many cultures that have prophecies about the end of this age, and I have worked in America, Canada, and Mexico among many seekers who are fascinated with this chronological climax. I have come to learn a lot about the differing views and predictions about what 2012.
My first intense feeling is that it really means nothing to me at all. I have tried my best to live as if I might die tomorrow or live forever, and in the balance a sort of functional wisdom seems to emerge. I spent some years working as a chaplain with people facing death and terminal illness, and I always felt a bittersweet emotion as I watched the resolutions and regrets that emerged when an “end time” became apparent: suddenly vows to live well, heal the past, and make the most of the time remaining emerged. I was thrilled for the awakening, but saddened that it took the end of life itself to spark a passion to change.
Much in the same way, I believe that regardless of whether 2012 means the end of a cycle of world violence, the arrival of aliens, or the distortion of the time space continuum, it all points to the same thing: get your act together!!! The theme that I see is the message that the raising of consciousness is key to making this great transition a good one and not one of hellfire and brimstone. Let us not forget that at some level there is always choice. Regardless of what theory is right, what are you waiting for? Seek the truth of pure light consciousness—open hearted living—divine connection: today.
On the other hand, I do feel deeply grateful that such a time focus has been given. With a history as a soul-psychologist and business consultant, I know that change is the more concrete you can be about your intentions, the better off you are. That means if you can assign dates to your goals, you are more likely to achieve them. So, if your intent is to be as mindful as possible or as “enlightened” as possible by 2012—I say, great! Lets take the blessing of this amazing global time piece and do our best to be our best because of it! Just don’t let your fascination with the history and theory replace your energy and intent to take action today. I pray that this revolution of spiritual evolution will happen by 2012—and, if it’s 2011 or 2013, I’ll be okay with that as well.
Blessings on your path. Always Love, All ways,

Fear is bankrupt and love is the new currency – no credit limit. What all spiritual teachings reveal is a serenity that exists beyond human emotion once one enters the ‘kingdom of heaven’ or whatever term you wish to call it. It is a place of ‘being’ human beyond the human being. There are far too many folks making handsome livings on the naivety and trust placed in them by truth seekers. When one studies by asking the right questions, the wisdom in ‘to know, to dare, to do and to be silent’ emerges. In stillness I AM FREE.
Namaste,
Zen

Well said Doc! I have been studying every thing I can get my hands on and confirmation is everywhere.
I don’t know about the 2012 thing itself but I do know it is happening. 12.21.2012 is some crucial date but who knows for sure in what sense? For now just embrace, relax and enjoy! Resistance is futile and hazardous to your health. Love is in the air! And isn’t it about time?
