History deepens our understanding of who we are and gives us an understanding of how we got here. A part of history is always alive. Howard Zinn, Joanna Macy, and Joseph Campbell have an integrated approach to our history.
If Rick becomes President he will make everyone into a leader; yes! Doesn’t empowerment solve everything? Non-hierarchical communities make sense.
Isn’t “almost satanic” the religious system of capitalism, a human manifestation of a few winners and many losers? Creativity takes a blow when people say that capitalism is our nature.
Assassinated Black Panther leader said that racism is a product of capitalism. Black Panthers created compassionate communities but were vilified in the corporate media. I think the Panthers were a threat to corporate socialism–capitalism that has literally killed many innocent civilians with our money.(Do you hear the sound of a giant vacuum sucking our money toward narrow self-interests?)
Check out permaculture and Transition Towns. These are not “hippie” communities or cults. Local (compassionate) communities have proved to be effective in health care and banking. “Health care” is an ongoing process that integrates everything. The 60′s was a failed revolution but much can be learned from their failings. I think a big part of why the Vietnam War ended was because it was televised, blood and all.
“We are our environment.” -Julia Butterfly Hill
Rick is the most grounded person I’ve heard in these series. Thank you Tami.

This talk is NOT new age babble.
1. Well being – Accept that it’s O.K. to be me and the value of my attention.
2. Community – Be part of a non-top-down supportive community where people can have mutual dialogue and support each other and our visions on a ongoing basis.
3. Intention – What is my highest vision and how can it serve community? Is reality ready for it?
What for? A life of peace, freedom, kindness, fullness, open heatedness, and ongoing sadhana. Rick seems to be seriously working towards this.
