North Indian music has been handed down from teacher to student for over 2,000 years. Continuing in this great tradition, bansuri master G. S. Sachdev offers Amar Sangit (Immortal Music), a stirring collection of improvisational pieces based on India’s classical and folk melodies.
For 50 years, Sachdev has immersed himself in the nuances of the bansuri (North India’s bamboo flute) and the spiritual roots of classical Indian music. Joined by tabla master Swapan Chaudhuri on this intimate recording, Sachdev shares this music as “a means to reach God and to feel the divine essence.”
