Session 1: Learning to Flow with Your Emotions

Introduces the key principles and practices of Emotional Flow: the specific categories and purposes of our emotions, how we learn to suppress them, and the phenomenon of empathy. Karla also shares new insights into the role of emotions in learning, decision-making, social interactions, and general intelligence. Then participants learn the foundational practices that will be used throughout the course: the five Emotional Mindfulness Skills.

Session 2: Flowing into Emotional Mindfulness

Explores the power of imaginal (versus imaginary) practices, how to balance the Five Elements, finding the “middle path” of optimal Emotional Flow, an introduction to thresholds and boundaries, and further training on the Five Emotional Mindfulness Skills: Grounding, Defining Boundaries, Rejuvenation, Conscious Complaining, and Burning Contracts. Also introduces the purpose and practice of identifying and naming our emotions, creating an interior sanctuary, and more.

Session 3: Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries: The Angers

Why anger is necessary, the role of anger in protecting ourselves and setting your boundaries, how anger helps define our sense of self, how to work with different intensities of anger, emotional feedback loops, and the concepts of hatred and the shadow. Also clarifies in detail the emotions apathy, guilt, and shame, and how to work with them.

Session 4: Instinct, Intuition, and Action: The Fears

The primal, biological roots of fear, how its purpose differs from that of anger, how the two emotions interact, and how to work with the protective, orienting energy of this crucial emotion. Karla also explores new scientific research on anxiety and its connection to task completion and procrastination, how confusion can function as a mask for fear, the gifts of jealousy and envy, understanding panic attacks, and more.



Session 5: Release and Rejuvenation: The Sadnesses

Explores the family of emotions that include sadness, despair, grief, situational depression, and the suicide urge. The sadnesses provide the means to let go and refill ourselves with new energies. This session shares new information on successfully working through depression, finding the optimal amount of personal space for sadness, and when distraction and entertainment can actually be beneficial. Also includes instructions for creating an effective and meaningful grief ritual.

Session 6: Amusement, Appreciation, & Communion: The Happinesses

This session investigates the myths that we hold about happiness, contentment, joy, and exhilaration, and explains their role in the larger domain of the emotions. Also introduces the forward-focused purpose of the happinesses, physical practices to support them, the concept of Emotion Work, and new information about positive thinking.



Session 7: Understanding the Physics of Stress and Resistance

How labels such as “stress,” “discomfort,” “frustration,” and “concerned” can suppress, mask, and distort our true emotions. Explains how to create healthy boundaries and proper thresholds to engage with your true emotions, and situations when you should not be empathic. Also covers the alchemy of emotional resistance, Ethical Empathic Gossip, the concept of “emotional hygiene,” responding to injustice, and how to work with difficult environments, social structures, and relationships.

Session 8: Flowing with the Language of Emotions

The final session is devoted to reviewing and practicing the principles, practices, and skills learned during the course, and guidelines for continuing your training as you move forward. Content also includes: why love is not an emotion (and what it is), emotional dimensions unique to men, Emotion Shrines, expanding one’s sacred space within, and more.

More then I could imagine! This is rates with the best gifts I ever made to myself. Must to everyone. The only teacher I know about who truly understands the emotions and knows how to teach other to understand and connect with them. This is all about emotional consciousness.

I would have given this course 10 stars if I could. I wish this was taught in schools, at work, all over. I am not even finished with the course but had to stop to write this review because it just blew me away. I am doing this course very seriously and really starting to understand why years of therapy and of presence/consciousness based work with the best sages did not yield fruits. There were certain pieces that I really did not understand. This course is worth a lot more than its price. It is the best $49 I have ever spent. I never knew for example that grounding was a way to channel sadness and fear but that to be able to stay grounded, boundaries were important and to be able to keep boundaries, awareness of one space and anger in its healthy free flowing state had to be channelled. I never knew some when tired for example used sadness and fear to set boundaries which is not what sadness and fear are supposed to do, which for fear leads to chronic anxiety and for sadness to depression. I would this course 10 stars if I could. Trust me, do yourself a favor. It will speed your healing. Thank you Karla McLaren.

Karen is by far the best in my experience in explaining emotions and how to work with them. She is very gentle and very real. Had trouble with the download. I ended up having to purchase the CDs at a higher price

This is a very insightful and useful program. It has deepened my understanding of all of my emotions and the gifts they bring. The cards are spectacular! Everyone should go through this program!
