Compassion, Love, and Joy—The Buddhist Psychology of Well-Being

The meditation practices passed down from the Buddha are beautiful, time-tested ways to awaken a compassionate, joyful, and loving heart. Buddhist psychology and research from modern neuroscience both show enormous benefits from using these methods for a regular practice or in conjunction with conventional therapy.

With The Psychology of the Awakened Heart, master teacher Jack Kornfield invites professionals and meditators alike to join him in Portland, Oregon for a nourishing training retreat on the Buddhist psychology of well-being. These two days will offer visionary practices, wisdom teachings, case studies, healing stories, and demonstrate the principles of Buddhist psychology using a rich mix of practical and scientific information and experiential exercises.

Embodying both mindfulness and positive psychology, the teachings of the awakened heart will show us how to work with ourselves and others to keep the heart open especially in times of suffering, when we often shut down. We will learn techniques and practices to befriend and forgive ourselves and others; the personal and clinical benefits of the inner science of joy; the art of transforming sorrows and trauma in the body, heart and mind; how to strengthen the power of our intention; ways to awaken the courage to be happy, and much more.

Join us for two days of powerful practices, heartfelt reminders, clear teachings, personal skill-building, and clinical tools, in a loving learning community.

You can register online or at the door—the space at the venue is limited, so we encourage you to register early. The event is ticket-less. Once you have paid your registration fee, you will just need to check-in at the box office with your first and last name. You will receive a confirmation of your purchase with details and directions in your Sounds True digital library.

Outstanding in every way! Seeing Jack Kornfield in person was even better than reading his books. His accessibility, clarity, funny stories, and authenticity touched my heart. The venue was gorgeous, though a bit unwieldy for partners' work. Please bring this gifted teacher back to Portland! We'd also warmly welcome Rick Hanson, Ram Dass, Dan Siegel, Richie Davidson, Tara Brach, Sylvia Boorstein...

Jack was my first teacher on Monday Night Classes at Spirit Rock and retreats there too in the 1980's

I have been on the path since then and it grows and grows. Am now teaching survivors of TBI basic mindfulness meditation: Suffering can be let go of! This is what the present moment is like, now.
Thank you so much Jack for continually bringing the possibility of awakening to all of us.
