After a successful career performing and creating film music, he lived as a monk for five years at a monastery in south India studying yoga, philosophy, Sanskrit, and the ancient art of using music and chant for meditation and spiritual growth. A prolific recording artist and producer, Russill has taught academic courses and presented workshops on chant, music, and culture internationally.
