Eva M. Selhub, MD, a passionate, articulate advocate of mind-body medicine, enjoys a flourishing career as a speaker, teacher, and media spokesperson. She has also had clinical success treating patients who have triumphed over serious medical conditions and destructive emotional patterns.
A staff member of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Selhub served from 1999 until the end of 2007 as medical director of the MindBody Medical Institute founded by the pioneer of mind-body research, Herbert Benson, MD. Dr. Selhub now serves as senior physician at the Benson-Henry Institute for MindBody Medicine at Massachusetts General. As an expert in the stress physiology and the mind-body approach to patient care, Dr. Selhub has trained healthcare professionals from all over the world. Her lectures are based on the mind-body connection, the physiology of stress and coping and their relationship to illness, and on enhancing the love that heals.
Dr. Selhub adopts an integrated approach to health and well-being, using both Western and Eastern mind-body techniques in her approach to healing disease and creating optimum health. She emphasizes the mental, emotional, and spiritual elements of physical conditions using her proprietary and practical method for activating and coordinating the mind, heart, body, and spirit toward healing. She incorporates the use of her highly developed intuitive skills into her work, and teaches others to recognize and trust their own intuitive abilities.
In her private practice, Alight Medicine, located in Newton, Massachusetts, Dr. Selhub uses a unique approach to healthcare—one based on enabling her patients to instantly neutralize and overcome the ravaging physical and emotional effects of stress. Dr. Selhub's practice is based on The Love Response™, referring to the chain of biochemical processes that occur in the body when a person operates from love rather than from fear. She provides a one-of-a-kind stress physiology assessment, nutrition and exercise counseling, integrative imagery with guided relaxation and bio-energy work. Learning to live in the Love Response™ restores balance, awareness and improves the sense of well-being.
Dr. Selhub’s much-anticipated first book, The Love Response, was published in early 2009. Dr. Selhub has produced four audio CDs: Finding Stillness, Relax into Love, Ten Minutes to Relax: Experience the Love Response, and Ten Minutes to Relax: Living the Love Response.
In addition to appearing on national TV and radio programs, Dr. Selhub has been featured in publications such as Self Magazine, USA Today, the Boston Globe, and the New York Times. She is also a sought-after speaker at renowned institutions of learning such as Tufts Medical School, MIT, and Harvard Medical School.
