Description

Through their many bestselling books, Natalie Goldberg and Julia Cameron have done nothing less than deepen the way millions of us experience the art and practice of writing and creativity. Now with The Writing Life, Cameron and Goldberg join forces for the first time in this revealing dialogue that speaks to our common search for an everyday spirituality.

Join these two creative giants as they explode cherished misconceptions about who should write, and why they should do it, opening the door to the writer's world for everybody, not just a chosen few. Goldberg and Cameron take us inside their personal lives as committed writers and spiritual seekers, and explore the following questions: How can writing best be practiced? What is the difference between therapeutic writing and writing for publication? How do we conquer the twin dragons of mood and time? Is it dangerous or inspirational to dabble in different arts such as music, painting, and writing? How is addiction related to the writer's life?

Edgy, surprising, and useful for its hard-won advice, The Writing Life is an invitation to a life-transforming act that requires no more than a pen, some paper, and the will to get started.

this is a very interesting, and sometimes inspiring, talk by two very interesting and inspiring women. I had hoped for more detail about writing but what it does have is very helpful and, once again, inspiring.

What a treat to get to here this wonderful conversation between Julia Cameron and Natalie Goldberg. They each spoke with such grace and wisdom…. and even when their perspectives were divergent they spoke with real respect and caring. I loved listening to this program.

This is a very inspiring message because even if I don't necessarily become a writer, the disciplines she suggests are leading me to such a deeper understanding of who I really am and what my path truly is that I've become more and more excited to write each day and learn more about myself/spirit.

The contrasting energies brought into this gorgeous conversation are mesmerizing; I've listened to this work three times and know I will many more times because the essence continues to shift as I open to each perspective from these wise women. Thank you Natalie, Julia and Tami for a beautiful sharing.

As a writer, I found these interviews with Julia Cameron and Natalie Goldberg very helpful. They are both great teachers, and speak directly to the kinds of issues relevant to those of us who are writing. Highly recommended.
