Welcome to the Year of Ceremony!

We're excited to invite you to be part of our online monthly shamanic group that brings together the leading shamanic teachers and practitioners on the planet.

We live in a time when we are called to truly connect—to each other, to nature, and to our own deeper purpose. As we face unprecedented challenges in our modern age, each of us will have the chance to become a source of light and healing in our world.

More people are turning to shamanism every day. Why?

Because it provides a practical way for us to make a direct connection with the divine, so we may draw strength and resources from the spirit world to make changes in our reality.

We are drawn to the ancient arts of shamanism for their enduring power to help us live a life of harmony, good health, and balance in our lives and with our planet."

—Sandra Ingerman

The Power of Shamanism in Your Life

Shamanism is the oldest and most enduring human spiritual tradition. What makes it so powerful and relevant in our times?

  • HEALING

Shamanism provides a holistic view of healing that embraces the body, the psyche, the soul, and the spiritual dimension of well-being through practices such as soul retrieval, power augmentation, and body clearing.

  • GUIDANCE

We discover how to reliably and safely move between worlds, developing sophisticated relationships with helping spiritual forces for practical insight and personal growth.

  • PROTECTION

We learn practical tools for staying grounded and protected in the face of stress, overwhelming emotions, and despair from personal and world events.

  • CONNECTION

We restore our fundamental interconnectedness to community, the natural world, and the eternal rhythms of the cosmos to have the direct experience of oneness in our lives.

  • PURPOSE

Shamanism is a path for becoming a healing light in the world—discovering what you are here to do and be on the planet during your lifetime.

  • DIRECT REVELATION

You become your own spiritual authority. The "right" way to practice shamanism is the way that resonates with your true nature and integrates the guidance from your spirit helpers.

Take Part in a Thriving Shamanic Community

While practicing alone can be valuable, shamanic practice truly shows its power when we come together with shared intention.

drum

As shamans throughout the ages have taught, our collective energy can create results we could never realize alone. A great asset for modern shamanism is that advances in technology allow more people to work together now than at other any time in history.

By joining Year of Ceremony, you'll become an essential part of an interconnected shamanic community—united in purpose to create positive change in our world.

Through our online community, you'll have a place to share your experiences with fellow travelers, give and receive insights about each ceremony, and support one another in your exploration of shamanism.

Most of all, you'll be performing each ceremony in conjunction with thousands of other practitioners—adding your voice, heart, and power to this ongoing project to foster healing and transformation.

These ceremonies will deepen our remembering, our coming back into membership of a global family."

—don Oscar Miro-Quesada

Experience Different Shamanic Perspectives

The shamanic teachers you'll meet during Year of Ceremony have all studied world traditions with an eye to which practices have the greatest power, effectiveness, and universal applicability.

The diverse teachings and techniques you'll learn are meant to serve you for your whole life.

Each month, you'll experience a new facet of shamanic wisdom and a full ceremony to help you integrate it into your life. You'll discover new ways to call upon the strength of your ancestors, communicate with the spirit world, bring healing energy back from your journeys, and much more.

The evidence for your connection to spirit will manifest in your life as you reinforce your practice with each lunar cycle. New horizons will open for you and transformation will unfold in extraordinary, unexpected ways.

You'll also be sheltered in an environment of support and safety created by these expert teachers and a worldwide circle of kindred spirits.

Most of all, each month will give you the chance to nurture the single most essential skill in shamanism: the ability to "see through the heart."

Creating Your Own Shamanic Practice

Throughout the Year of Ceremony, you will be invited to participate and create your own ceremonies. It is only by participating that we can evoke the change and transformation within.

All of us have the potential to activate our own shamanic capabilities. Ceremony and practice allow us to awaken this potential.

As you deepen your own shamanic practice, you may start to perceive the forces and dimensions of the universe that are invisible to the normal five senses. You learn to see not with the eyes or the mind, but with the heart itself.

Ceremony is the perfect classroom for working with the field of the heart."

—José Luis Stevens

It requires enormous courage to face the challenges of our time with an open, unclouded heart.

Yet if we can do good work and act from the place of the heart, we inspire courage in others—and their courage transmits to those they touch, traveling out like a wave of light to wash away darkness and despair.

Shamanic practice helps you become a much-needed source of light in the world. It helps you refine your natural gifts and uncover your purpose in life, so you can become the unique healing presence you were meant to be.

It gives you access to the support of the spirit world, your ancestral lineage, and the ever-expanding global community of shamanic practitioners.

Year of Ceremony will create a space for profound transformation within you and in the world around you. Each month's gathering will serve as a touchstone for your commitment to growth and change.

And it is only the beginning. Year of Ceremony will set the stage for new adventures and opportunities to unfold throughout the rest of your life.

The spirit world is ready to support you. The heartbeat of the Earth is ready for you to join in its eternal rhythm.

The only question is: are you ready to answer the call?

HeatherAsh Amara: The Fire of Our Faith

All shamanic practices include one key element: faith. Our faith is an inner fire that directs our intent, passion, and healing. It is all too easy to disperse our faith with distractions, worry, and busyness. When we reconnect to the purity of our faith and link it to our desire to be in service, we realign with infinite possibility.

In this ceremony, HeatherAsh Amara will inspire us to release any old agreements that block our intuitive fire and she will guide us to tap into the bright heat of our faith. She will broadcast a demonstration of one of the oldest shamanic ceremonies on the planet—the firewalk—and discuss how this practice can turn fear into fuel for our own healing. We will then join together to weave a global web of faith that brings the fire of healing where it is most needed in service to our Mother Earth.

What you should bring:
A red glass jar prayer candle, one stick of incense, a sheet of paper, and a Sharpie marker.

Bonus Material
"Exploring Our Deepest Faith"
In this excerpt from her Sounds True program Awakening Your Inner Fire, chosen to support and deepen the theme of her ceremony, HeatherAsh looks at the link between our thoughts and our physical and energetic bodies, discusses how we can bring our faith inside, so that it stems from a feeling-sense in your being rather than from some outside source, and offers a guided practice for finding your core faith.

don Oscar Miro-Quesada: Apacheta Aknanakuy: Ceremony for Creating Shamanic Stone Relative Allies

In the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition, apachetas are piles of rocks, or cairns, found throughout the Andes that mark the high points of mountain passes from whence all water flows downward, nurturing the landscape. Yet much more than this, apachetas are understood as guardians and teachers, as powerful allies and relatives. We create these structures to channel energy from the heavens into our beloved Mother Earth.

In this ceremony, don Oscar will take you through the sacred process of creating an apacheta. He will explore how these structures serve as "acupuncture points" that strengthen the flow of energy running throughout the land by means of our offerings and our prayers. He will also invite you to learn how to use the apecheta to transfer your troubles and burdens into the stones, and teach you how to bless and care for your apachetas over time.

Bonus Material
"Lower World Journey: The Vision Questing of Shadow"

Sandra Ingerman: Ceremony for Creating a Sacred Prayer Tree

In some native traditions trees are called "the standing ones." In Siberia, trees are seen as sacred beings who bridge heaven and earth through their branches and their roots. The tradition of blessing trees and creating prayer or wish tokens to hang on them can be found worldwide, dating back more than 10,000 years.

In this ceremony, Sandra will guide us to a beautiful place in non-ordinary reality where we will collectively create a prayer tree to support our communities and the planet. We will create prayer ribbons empowered with prayers that we would like to see manifest for the Earth and all of life. The tree we create together will exist throughout time, and you will be able to continue to place prayer ribbons on the tree for years to come. Sandra will also teach you how to create a prayer tree in your own community to help facilitate healing and peace.

What you should bring:
If you have a drum or rattle, please bring it for this session. You can also make a simple rattle by placing pebbles, crystals, or corn into a small jar.

Bonus Material
"Transfiguration Meditation"
Sandra offers a key practice from her Sounds True audio program Miracles for the Earth—a guided journey for transfiguring into one's divine nature as a way of preparing to do healing work on behalf of the planet.

Bhola Banstola: A Ceremony from Nepalese Shaman Bhola Banstola

Shamanism is still a living tradition in Bhola Banstola's homeland of Nepal. The main role of shamans is to access the spirit worlds, and work as mediators between the spirits and individuals or the society as a whole. They exist at a cultural center point, and they advise on the social and health affairs of the people.

In Bhola's tradition, shamans take many roles—they are musicians, herbalists, matchmakers, diviners, protectors, and much more. In some societies they also do the work of a psychopomp, accompanying and guiding the souls of the dead to their next lives. Most of all, shamans are creators of sacred space within an individual to bring in healing energies.

We're still finalizing the details of our ceremony with Bhola. Please check back here for more information as we get closer to our broadcast date.

Juan Núñez del Prado: Saminchakuy and Saywachakuy: Two Essential Daily Practices in the Andean Mystical Tradition

In the cosmology of the Inka, everything consists of living energy, or sami. In this ceremony, we will learn the two most important exercises for working with energy on a daily basis, saminchakuy and saywachakuy. They cleanse us, strengthen us and connect us more deeply with the world. When energy becomes blocked in our poq’po (energy body or bubble), the practice of saminchakuy helps us release hucha, stuck or heavy energy. This practice involves drawing energy down from above through the top of our poq’po or energy bubble, filling us with sami allowing any heavy energy or hucha to flow down into mother earth, Pachamama. Once our energetic body is cleansed, we can practice saywachakuy, drawing subtle energy up from the earth, and then experience ourselves as a living column of energy as energy flows up through us from the earth and down from the cosmos. These practices for cleansing and energizing your poq’po result in a greater capacity for ayni, or sacred reciprocity with all creation.

Bonus Material
Despacho Ceremony
In this video, Juan Núñez del Prado shares how to perform a basic ayni despacho ceremony. A despacho is a sacred mandala of offerings that becomes a living prayer of healing, designed to bring us into a state of ayni or right relationship. Through the despacho ceremony, we restore balance, invite grace and a support a sense of gratitude for our lives, our communities and all creation.

John Lockley: The Way of Ubuntu (Humanity): Reconnecting with our Ancestors to Strengthen our Soul

Every human being has a calling and particular gift to share with the world. In many traditional cultures, we reveal these gifts by reconnecting to our ancestors—by honoring the spark of life that has been passed down our lineage to us, we can rediscover our own unique gifts, talents, and purpose.

In this ceremony, John will begin with a discussion on ancestors and the importance of reconnecting to them in a pragmatic way through an awareness of the blood and bones in our bodies. "The human family is like a tree," John says, "with our roots going deep into the earth and stretching for countless years into the past. The deeper we can connect, the more space we can free up for spiritual growth." John will lead our ceremonial community on a sacred journey to our ancestors, calling on their strength and wisdom as we face the unprecedented challenges of the age in which we live.

What you should bring:
John suggests you bring white sage to burn, a white candle, and wear white clothes.

Bonus Material

Michael Stone: Reconnecting with the Heart of Nature

Many spiritual traditions identify the root cause of suffering in the world as arising from our unexamined belief that we are separate; separate from our bodies, each other, our communities, and the web of life. In this month's ceremony, Michael will take us on a journey to the Heart of Nature, where we will reclaim our place in the family of things.

"When we rehabilitate our relationship with the web of life and the nonhuman world, we will cease to suffer as environmental orphans cut off from our true source of power," teaches Michael. Here he invites you to take part in a powerful ceremony that will help you rediscover what it means to "walk in beauty."

What you should bring:
Please bring a drum or rattle if you have one, a journal, and a bandanna or eye mask. You can prepare by bringing five sacred items to your altar that represent your respect for the spirit of each of the elements.

Bonus Material
"Elemental Dismemberment Journey"
Though they can seem intimidating, dismemberment journeys are powerful healing experiences. In this audio, Michael guides you safely through this process of becoming cleansed, dissolved, and reborn in harmony with natural forces.

José Luis Stevens, PhD & Lena Stevens: A Ceremony for Transition: Release of the Past, Dreaming Our Global Future

In a culture that often makes us feel small and disaffected, it is important to remember each of us has more power than we know. In this ceremony, José and Lena will help you remove the blockages that keep you from embracing your true power to effect positive change in the world. You will learn how to shamanically eliminate energetic debt and unfinished business from the past, manage your negative thoughts, forgive your own disconnection, and use intentionality to help create a new world.

Through song, ceremony, invocation of spirit allies, and time-honored practices for awakening our inner power, José and Lena will share their most effective methods for birthing our dreams of change into reality without any blocking action of resistance. This will allow you to use the ceremony as a lab to put these ways into effect—for this night and into the future.

Imelda Almqvist: Drawing Down the Divine Child

Exploring ancient and tribal beliefs and mythology, we discover that the Moon is sometimes seen as The Land of Unborn Children, linked to fertility on Earth and the cycle of pregnancy. At times of great change, the coming of a new paradigm is often symbolized by the concept of The Divine Child of the Moon, a force of yet-unmanifested divinity awaiting its time to incarnate on Earth.

For this full moon, Imelda will invite us to take part in preparing the Earth for the arrival of this sacred energy. In doing so, we will journey to the souls of generations of children yet to be born, the Earth Keepers of the Future. Through cooperation with these souls, we will plant the seeds of their visions and our future, clearing the way for powerful changes to occur—such as the balancing of divine feminine and masculine principles, living in connection with Spirit, and profound respect for All That Is. We will share our own dreams of a world freed from the cycles of conflict and destruction, and guided by an awareness of our responsibility to our environment. In the present and in the future, we will move toward a new reality created from sacred wholeness, not from old blueprints that no longer serve us or our world.

Andrew Steed: Being in Sovereignty with the Land and All Beings Seen and Unseen

"Each of us comes from an indigenous tribe," teaches Andrew Steed. "The medicine ways of all people have been danced and sung into the fabric of the worlds." The people we identify as the Celtic tribes found their medicine through their deep relationship with the land and from their rich tradition of story.

In this ceremony, Andrew will guide you in finding your voice, opening your heart, and expanding your vision beyond the horizon. He will lead you in the sacred song of Amrun, "the song that sings us." Journeying through the Celtic gateways, you will connect to your own medicine to promote personal and planetary healing. You will also learn in this ceremony to shapeshift into the elements—and to illuminate light into the darkest places and spaces between the spaces.

What you should bring:
A candle; a feather; an eye covering; a small bowl of water drawn from a natural source; and a stone about the size of your fist that has agreed to be part of this ceremony, which will then be returned to the land.

Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq: A Ceremony with Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq

Greenland has become a focus for global attention, offering the most dramatic evidence for the accelerating phenomenon of climate change. What do the wisdom keepers of Greenland have to tell us about this challenge that affects us all? "The ice is speaking to us," says Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq. "The Elders teach us if we return to harmony in our lives, melting the ice in our hearts, reconnecting with one another, we will survive." In this ceremony, Angaangaq will guide us in a journey to help each of us contribute to the healing of our world.

We're still finalizing the details of our ceremony with Angaangaq. Please check back here for more details as we get closer to our broadcast date.

Everywhere people are waking up to the fact that our systems are failing, the glaciers are melting, the oceans rising, species are going extinct at unacceptable rates—and we must change.
