Welcome to the Year of Ceremony!

We're excited to invite you to be part of a new online monthly shamanic group that brings together the leading shamanic teachers and practitioners on the planet.

We live in a time when we are called to truly connect—to each other, to nature, and to our own deeper purpose and higher self. A renaissance of shamanism is sweeping the world because it provides a practical way for us to make a direct connection with the divine and spirit worlds.

As Sandra Ingerman says, “We are drawn to the ancient arts of shamanism for their enduring power to help us live a life of harmony, good health, and balance in our lives and with our planet.”

With Year of Ceremony, a council of today's most prominent shamanic teachers will be your guides each month to offer you an unprecedented new way to explore and enrich your practice. You will build deeper relationships to the spirit world and the forces of nature, as you unite with a global shamanic community.

Shamanic practitioners from different traditions and locations will come together online to share ceremonies and sacred teachings. Starting March 23, 2016, you'll be able to join us on a live broadcast of a ceremony presented by a different shamanic teacher for the next 13 lunar cycles—infusing your entire year with shared intention and sacred energy.

Over the course of this year, you'll have the opportunity to learn powerful new techniques, deepen your own spiritual practice, and engage in healing work with others around the world on the shamanic path.

You'll experience a variety of sacred teachings, such as:

  • José Luis Stevens' ceremony for transitioning to a new age
  • Llyn Cedar Roberts' journey into the Solstice Dream Portal
  • Hank Wesselman's ritual for connecting to ancestor spirits
  • A deep spiritual cleansing from the African tradition with Luisah Teish
  • An exploration of your true spiritual nature with Sandra Ingerman
  • PLUS many more powerful ceremonies throughout the year.

Over the course of this extraordinary year, you'll be become an essential part of an interconnected shamanic community—joined by intention to align ourselves to the rhythms of nature and the spiritual powers that seek to help, protect, and guide us.

The Power of Shamanism in Your Life

Shamanism is the oldest and most enduring human spiritual tradition. What makes it so powerful—and why are so many people turning back to shamanism today?

  • HEALING

Shamanism provides a holistic view of healing that embraces the body, the psyche, the soul, and the spiritual dimension of well-being through practices such as soul retrieval, power augmentation, and body clearing.

  • GUIDANCE

We discover how to reliably and safely move between worlds develop sophisticated relationships with helping spiritual forces for practical insight and personal growth.

  • PROTECTION

We learn practical tools for staying grounded and protected in the face of stress, overwhelming emotions, and despair from personal and world events.

  • CONNECTION

We restore our fundamental interconnectedness to community, the natural world, and the eternal rhythms of the cosmos to have the direct experience of oneness in our lives.

  • PURPOSE

Shamanism is a path for becoming a healing light in the world — discovering what you are here to do and be on the planet during your lifetime.

  • DIRECT REVELATION

You become your own spiritual authority. The “right” way to practice shamanism is the way that resonates with your true nature and integrates the guidance from your spirit helpers.

Tapping into Universal Truth and Connection

Though our world is very different from the one our ancestors lived in, there are still universal truths we share.

In every time and place, the majesty of nature calls to the human heart. Beautiful music stirs the soul. Great stories stay with us and allow us to inhabit different places and times.

It is a fundamental gift to recognize the living sacredness of all things—animals and plants, stone and water, light and sound, stories and ideas.

The first shamans innovated human spirituality to honor that sacredness present throughout the seen and unseen worlds. They created the threads of spiritual awakening and divine connection that have since been woven into every spiritual tradition.

Modern shamanism returns our focus to those essential qualities of spirituality. In a time when we are surrounded with distractions and confusion, regular shamanic practice helps us reconnect with what is vital, meaningful, and spiritually nourishing in life.

Shamanism also provides eminently practical tools for everyday living.

Shamans work in the invisible realms to weave a new fabric of reality into being and bridge healing energies from the spiritual worlds into our tangible realm. They do this work by performing ceremonies. And the power of ceremony is that they create change.

Shamanism is the root of human scientific learning as well as spirituality. In indigenous communities, the shaman performed critical tasks of healing, guidance, and the gathering of information.

If the shaman's tools didn't work, they couldn't serve their community. Thus, the most effective tools evolved over time.

Experience Different Shamanic Perspectives

The contemporary shamanic teachers you'll meet during Year of Ceremony have all studied world traditions with an eye to which practices have the greatest power, effectiveness, and universal applicability.

The diverse teachings and techniques you'll learn during this year are meant to serve you for your whole life.

Each month, you'll experience a new facet of shamanic wisdom and a full ceremony to help you integrate it into your life. You'll discover new ways to call upon the strength of your ancestors, communicate with the spirit world, bring healing energy back from your journeys, and much more.

The evidence for your connection to spirit will manifest in your life as you reinforce your practice with each lunar cycle. New horizons will open for you and transformation will unfold in extraordinary, unexpected ways.

You'll also be sheltered in an environment of support and safety created by these expert teachers and a worldwide circle of kindred spirits.

Most of all, each month will give you the chance to nurture the single most essential skill in shamanism: the ability to “see through the heart.”

In shamanism, no matter your form or traditions, all true power is mediated through the heart. So what is needed to awaken your courageous heart?

Creating Your Own Shamanic Practice

Throughout the Year of Ceremony you will be invited to participate and create your own ceremonies. It is only by participating that we can evoke the change and transformation within.

All of us have the potential to activate our own shamanic capabilities. Through ceremony and practice we activate this within.

As you activate your own shamanic practice you may start to perceive the forces and dimensions of the universe that are invisible to the normal five senses. You learn to see not with the eyes or the mind, but with the heart itself.

It requires enormous courage to face the challenges of our time with an open, unclouded heart.

Yet if we can do good work and act from the place of the heart, we inspire courage in others—and their courage transmits to those they touch, traveling out like a wave of light to wash away darkness and despair.

Shamanic practice helps you become a much-needed source of light in the world. It helps you refine your natural gifts and uncover your purpose in life, so you can become the unique healing presence you were meant to be.

It gives you access to the support of the spirit world, your ancestral lineage, and the ever-expanding global community of shamanic practitioners.

Year of Ceremony will create a space for profound transformation within you and in the world around you. Each month's gathering will serve as a touchstone for your commitment to growth and change.

And it is only the beginning. This is a year that will set the stage for new adventures and opportunities to unfold throughout the rest of your life.

The spirit world is ready to support you. The heartbeat of the Earth is ready for you to join in its eternal rhythm.

The only question is: are you ready to answer the call?

A Shamanic Alignment to a New Global Vibration

Our ceremony will assist this planet's transition from a long stretch of childhood to young adulthood—in other words, we will help with our world's passage through its volatile puberty. José will begin by exploring what this transition is, how it will take place over the next decades, the steps, and what the Mayans and other indigenous prophets have stated will happen.

We will start the ceremony itself by calling in the directions, then work with the Tree of Life to facilitate bringing in the proper light codes for this planet's evolution. We will offer prayers for all members of the human race no matter what their values are or what their status currently is. José will sing an icaro (sacred song) to support this process. We will set the intention to shift the old paradigm of conflict to a new one of love and cooperation, then close with a universal blessing.

What you should bring:
José suggests that each person have a candle to light during the ceremony, and also wear very simple garb to bolster the sense they are in ceremony.

Bonus Material:
“Three Practices to Free the Trapped Essence”
A 30-minute guided meditation on audio that includes background music for moving into an altered state, and three practices for cultivating the vibrations of gratitude, love, and awe to sprout the seed of awakening.

is the president and cofounder (with his wife Lena Stevens) of Power Path Seminars, dedicated to bringing indigenous wisdom into business and everyday life. He is the author of numerous books, ebooks, and original audio trainings, including Awaken the Inner Shaman and The Power Path.

Awakening the Courageous Heart

In this ceremony, Christina will lead us as we work with each of the four elements to awaken all four chambers of the courageous heart. Each chamber of the heart is the source of a unique power—Love, Wisdom, True Power, and Vision—and they are all required by the mature spirit to act in balance in the world. In the sacred space of the awakened heart, we will discover what each of us must cultivate to nourish to realize meaning in our lives. We will clarify the actions we need to take in real life to inspire courage of heart in the lives of all that we touch.

This ceremony is one that can be repeated seasonally to continue to nourish the courage of the awakened heart, and annually to continue to periodically realign your actions with your heart's truth.

What you should bring:
A cloth, small vessels of each of the four elements (Water, Earth, Air, and Fire), and a rattle to perform the ceremony.

Bonus Material:
“Working with the Elements”
Guided practices on audio for working with the powers of Air, Water, Fire, and Earth.

Owl Medicine at Solstice Moon

As the northern hemisphere celebrates midsummer, the southern hemisphere is in winter solstice season. At this time we, and the Earth embrace light and dark—the shortest and longest days of the year juxtapose the solar father who illuminates the lunar mother.

In this shamanic experience, we invoke Owl spirit medicine to integrate the dark and light in us, and our creative and receptive forces, the heavens reflect.

We travel with Owl through the solstice dream portal to learn how to navigate the darkness and death of these times.

This journey will carry us back in time, to honor and seek counsel from our past selves, our ancestors, who offer wisdom, power and energy—to nourish a new story, within us, and humanity, which we seed into the future.

We enact a guided shamanic shapeshifting cleansing ceremony with the elements, then return with strength, clarity, and good visions to nourish unforeseen possibility.

What you should bring:
A bowl of water, a lighted white candle, a plant bundle from your area, a long-stemmed flower, and two palm-sized stones.

Bonus Material:
“Dark Moon Medicine Journey”
A guided audio to establish your Inner Sanctum or “Sacred Place.” This is followed by a time travel experience with a Dark Moon Ally, Black Jaguar, to transform pain from the past and retrieve the vital life force.

Ancestral Lineage Healing

Connection with ancestral spirits is an essential part of shamanic traditions worldwide. Like us, our ancestors experienced suffering and healing and —from the shamanic perspective—they remain connected with us through the life energy they share with us. While this dynamic association can provide us with wisdom and support from our forebearers, we may also inherit their unresolved sorrows and pain. When our body's defenses are down, when we are under stress or ill, it is easier for an ancestor’s energy to affect us adversely.

The spirit world is not a level of action. It is primarily a level of information and of energy. We will discuss this interesting phenomenon, virtually unrecognized in Western society, and we will engage in a healing ceremony for one of our departed ancestors who is still in transition and in need.

Bonus Material:
Part One of “The Spiritwalker Teachings: Journeys for the Modern Mystic”
The Spiritwalker Teachings offers foundational shamanic wisdom to deepen your shamanic connections with your inner sources of wisdom, power, and healing. Here you’ll receive the entire first CD of this program, including a guided journey to your own sacred place—your sacred garden.

The Chalice of Loss and Transition

The experience of loss or transition can take a myriad of forms: the death of a loved one, an illness, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or any significant event that alters your inner orientation and even the course of your life. While there may be visible external changes that occur as a result of such an event, the inner dimensions of loss and transition often remain hidden. As a result, you may not be aware of or have access to the unique wisdom that you've gained from having successfully navigated the territory.

This ceremony is designed to help illuminate the initiatory aspects of a specific experience of loss or transition in your life in order to uncover and claim the wisdom that you've gained from it. During this ceremony, we will call upon the full moon and our compassionate helping spirits with the intention of completing the cycle of death and rebirth—and making the wisdom that you've gained available as an offering for the benefit of others.

What you should bring:
A drum or rattle if you have one, a journal, and two symbolic objects—the first represents the specific event you're focusing on (which will be buried after the ceremony), the second represents the wisdom that you've gained from your experience (which will become a talisman of healing and empowerment).

Bonus Material:
“Resolving Energetic Enmeshment:
A Guided Practice for Restoring and
Maintaining Your Sovereignty”

When we have been unable to create resolution or closure when a significant ending or transition has occurred, an energetic cord can form that tethers us to the past. This gift contains a written explanation of the causes and symptoms of energetic cords, and a recorded guided practice to help identify and dissolve energetic cords in your own life to restore your sovereignty.

The Cosmos, Our Home

Our natural environment is more than the Earth's ecosystem and what we can see in the heavens with our naked eyes. We are part of immense cosmos inhabited by countless astronomical objects. Planet Earth is but one precious speck in this immensity.

Shamanic wisdom tells us that all entities in nature, including the Earth itself, are sacred and have a spirit. Thus, all entities in the cosmos are sacred. In this ceremony, Dr. Poncelet will lead us on a guided journey in space and time to a very distant entity in the cosmos: a quasar more than ten billion light years away, formed when universe was still young. From the perspective of that distant time, our solar system was merely a dream in the universal cosmic consciousness. With the help of the quasar spirit, we will have a healing ceremony for ourselves and for the planet Earth.

What you should bring:
A bandana or eye mask, a sheet of paper, a pencil, and coloring material.

Bonus Material:
“Exploring the Nature of Reality and of
Consciousness through the Shamanic Experience”

An audio recording of Claude Poncelet's recent presentation on human and universal consciousness at the international Science and Nonduality Conference 2015 in San Jose, CA in October, 2015.

The Rite of the Womb: Return to the Earth Mother

We all come from our mother, and to Her we shall return. In this ceremony for both women and men, we celebrate the return to the Great Mother. This is a celebration of forgiveness, and where we heal the mother wound that has been inflicted on all of us by our patriarchal Western culture that has wreaked havoc on the Earth.

This rite belongs to a lineage of medicine women dedicated to ending the suffering of all women. Alberto is joined by his wife and teaching partner Marcela Lobos to lead us on a ceremony intended to awaken our creative potential, heal our relationship with our ancestors, release negative feelings or prejudice we may feel toward both the feminine and the masculine, and bring us into oneness with the Great Mother.

What you should bring:
Prepare the altar prior to the ceremony, including flowers, 13 candles, and a bowl of water.

Bonus Material:
“Hacking the Human Biofield”
Shamans of old discovered that they could “hack” the biofield to live long and healthy lives, to get their health span to equal their life span, and free their consciousness from their biology. Here Alberto presents a PDF of a 30-day plan to grow a new body that ages and heals differently.

Teqsemuyoq Sonqon Wachuchiy Aknana: Heart of the Universe Alignment Ritual

Don Oscar Miro-Quesada offers a ceremony derived from the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of cross-cultural shamanic arts. We begin this practice by aligning ourselves with the group's energy through conscious breathing and the use of specific hand positions, working together to draw upon spiritual forces to restore wholeness within All Our Relations. This is followed by an ancestral Quechua invocation for the descent of grace upon all participants sourced from the Heart of the Universe, known as the Teqsemuyoq Sonqon.

As we come together in intention and action, don Oscar will facilitate a guided shamanic journey to the Hanaqpacha (“celestial, superior shamanic world”) for communion and alignment with its soul evolving radiance. Through this ceremony, we pave the way for The Above to become self-reflectively manifest through The Below, allowing us to more easily “follow our bliss” during this lifetime of walking in reverence upon our beloved earth.

What you should bring:
Any object or token that embodies your sense of identity as a healing influence in the world.

Bonus Material:
“World Reversal Altar”
This beautifully crafted video tutorial takes you step by step into setting up a Pachakuti Mesa altar for self-exploration, transformation, and personal growth.

Calling On Ancestral Spirits to Heal Genetic Trauma

Our ancestors may no longer be alive in their own bodies, they continue to exist in ours. In every one of our cells we carry the gifts and blessings of the many thousands of people who came before us—as well as our pre-human ancestors, going back to the beginning of life itself. So, not only are the ancestors alive in our bodies, their spirits are able to assist us with all that we face in our daily life.

In this ceremony, Evelyn will help us go beyond the limitations of time and space to experience the first beings with whom we share a DNA connection. As we trace the journey of life through all the different life forms that contributed to our body, we will meet ancestors who can participate in healing the effects of trauma in the genetic line. We will end by making a simple sacred object to represent our connection to our lineage.

What you should bring:
A bowl of pea-sized stones or dried beans, 6 square inches of leather or strong cloth, 30 inches of cord or string, and a candle.

Bonus Material:
“Two Guided Journeys”
Evelyn offers two audio files with guided journeys—one to access a loving ancestral grandmother and grandfather, the other guided imagery for health and wellness

Watering the Seeds of Peace

In our heart we carry many seeds—seeds of fear, seeds of hope, seeds of possibility, seeds of power. Who we are and what our life grows into depends greatly on which seeds we choose to water. If we long for more peace within and around us, we start by asking peace to take root in our heart.

In this ceremony, Jonathan will help rediscover the seeds of peace that are always within us, and reveal how we can draw on the spirit world to nurture them. The ceremony moves through several parts: calling the Spirits to ask for help; asking the Spirits to bless the water so it may nurture the seeds of peace in our heart; the watering of the seeds; and, finally, giving thanks for the many blessings of this life.

What you should bring:
A small bowl of water (or large if you are sharing in a group), a candle or personal altar.

Bonus Material:
“Calling in the Spirits”
An audio recording of Jonathan's practice for calling the Spirits of the Eight Directions, Nature, the Four Elements, and The Circle to ask for healing, power, and connection.

Ebbo L'Ori—Perfecting Alignment of Spirit, Head, Heart, and Hands

This ceremony comes to us from the wisdom of the African diaspora. It is used in West and Central Africa, South America, and the Caribbean Islands—and everywhere that Africa's cultural descendants are found.

It serves to cleanse the channel between universal, collective, and individual consciousness; to connect the mind to the heart; and guide the actions of the hands. Through this ceremony, we support the efficacy of our work in the world.

Tonight’s ceremony employs water, visualization, movement, and song. It can be used any time to refresh the memory of our contract with Creation. It is an “extrovert meditation” that can serve both as part of high ceremony or can be performed as a daily practice.

What you should bring:
You need only a bowl of water and your good intentions.

Bonus Material:
“Two Practices Elevate Ori (Consciousness)”

Healing Yourself and the World through Being and Shining Your Light

As we come to the end of this cycle of full moon ceremonies, we reflect on how much transformation has occurred for each of us and for the collective field of energy. In this final ceremony, we will explore who we are beyond our skin: our authentic nature, which is spiritual light. We will continue to join together as a strong circle of love and learn how we can become positive change-makers by radiating our divine light into the world as true shamans have done since the beginning of time.

We will then close as a circle, as we have completed our ceremonies together and talk about how to continue our practice. We'll explore the potential of our personal power, the roles we can serve within our families and communities, and the possibilities that come from joining together in virtual realms to grow together and evolve. We will continue our work in the world to empower ourselves and each other during these changing times.

What you should bring:
If you have your own drum or rattle, Sandra invites you to bring this and join her in drumming. She also suggests a journal, a glass of water on a special cloth, a candle or incense, and any sacred piece of jewelry or clothing that supports your spiritual work.

Bonus Material:
“Rattlesnake: Nagado Drums, Odaiko, and Rattle”
This audio track employs the deep, rich sound of Japanese taiko drums to carry you into the unseen realms for a 25-minute shamanic journey, along with a rattling introduction and a call-back beat (from the album Shamanic Visioning Music: Taiko Drum Journeys).

Sandra Ingerman

is a licensed therapist and shamanic practitioner who has been teaching shamanism for more than 30 years. She teaches workshops internationally on shamanic journeying, healing, and reversing environmental pollution using spiritual methods. Her books include Shamanic Journeying and Walking in Light.

With the shift into the next cycle of ages, there is now a general agreement among the visionaries among us that the beginning of a great healing has become possible for humanity—individually and collectively. In this time, there is once again hope for a future filled with direction, intention, and harmony; hope for a rebirth of love; hope for personal health and feelings of inward satisfaction. We are all able to participate in this rebirthing of hope.

You'll receive a complete digital copy of Sandra Ingerman's guide to the foundational wisdom and techniques of shamanic practice. In this highly accessible book, she illuminates:

  • The keys to successful journeying in our modern culture

Bonus #2
Byron Metcalf’s “True Ground”
From the new album Shamanic Trance Dance

When indigenous shamans connect to the spirit world, they don’t always sit still during their journey-work—they dance and move with the spirits and let their power animals dance through them. Today, ecstatic dancers and shamanic practitioners speak of being “transported” by music, carried away in body and soul to an expanded state of being. On this track from his new Sounds True album Shamanic Trance Dance, world-class tribal drummer and shamanic practitioner Byron Metcalf masterfully blends the timeless indigenous sounds of drums, rattles, and didgeridoo with contemporary tribal-electro grooves to deliver an organic and potent sound tapestry that impels you to move—freeing the mind, energizing the body, and opening your spirit to inspiration and transformation.

Bonus #3
Sandra Ingerman's Shamanic Drumming Track

This audio begins with Sandra Ingerman setting the space for your journey: ten minutes of steady drumming to open your connection to the spirit realms, and a call-back beat to complete your journey. A perfect accompaniment for shamanic practice.
