Clarissa Pinkola Estés: Untie the Strong Woman
Tami Simon speaks with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, the award-winning poet, senior Jungian psychoanalyst, and cantadora (keeper of old stories in the Latina tradition). Dr. Estés is the author of the bestseller Women Who Run With the Wolves, along with over a dozen audio programs from Sounds True. Most recently, Dr. Estés has released with Sounds True her first book in over a decade, titled Untie the Strong Woman: Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Love for the Wild Soul. Very nice. I am very fortunate to be in the position to have time to listen to several Sounds True Podcasts each week. Unfortunately I listen to them late in the evening and sometimes fall asleep. That’s okay, I download them and listen again.
I didn’t fall asleep this time. I used to be Catholic and I’m feeling that maybe I have thrown the Mother out with the holy water. I may call upon her company from time to time; or should I say, make myself aware of her presence.

Clarissa I want to thank you for your very inspiring light-explanation of the infinite Holy Mother. She has already appeared through you revealing me her infinite love and care right when I needed. During the last year I worked in an idea that curiously I launched today some hours before hearing your story and interview!! It’s about a new pilgrimage path to follow The Holy Mother’s meaningful presence in Mexico, “Ruta del Peregrino y Templos Maristas – Ruta de los Milagros”. I felt I could contribute creating new and different ways to connect people around the world with a shared vision into a traveling experience. Humanity needs more than ever the balance of her aura. Now I know for sure she is with me in the hard chore of breaking patterns with risky new ideas. No more doubts I feel strength to continue.

After listening to this podcast interview, I feel as though I have been deep in meditation. My heart is full. I found myself tearing up just listening to all the many ways in which the Holy Mother appears, and her Loving transmissions regardless of events. This has set my heart to remembering many things long left aside; and put me back to a spot where I remember being consciously moved by Her presence daily. I am grateful for your podcast as it has helped me shift and align aright once again.

I am happy that my name is similar with holly mother. this similarity courage me to think that I will be able to absorb and spread love some day in my life

I appreciate the fact that the way we qualify for the healing and comforting presence of our Wholly Mother is by being broken in our humanness; by being in terror, grief, pain, loneliness, and sickness.
It was sad that as a young child and after Clairissa saw the Wholly Mother in the water that she could not turn around and see our Mother’s love reflected in her family.
May Mother Mary, Mother Tara, Mother Shakti be more and more available to all of us suffering beings. It seems that she might have more work than she can handle. Let us offer what little reflected love we can hold to each other.

Beautiful story of meeting Holy Mother on the water. I have always identified with the female aspect of (what I call) God. It was gratifying to listen to such a “lecture” spoken by 2 women who obviously are acquainted with the feminine Divine. Thank-you.
