I was very skeptical about this topic before I listened. After having listened for over 40 minutes, I am more open to this dimension of who we are and an alternative form of treating and healing using this modality. Thank you!

You said that Healing Touch is the most accepted therapy. That is not accurate. Therapeutic Touch is the most accepted biofield therapy because of its research base and ability for the practitioner to elicit a relaxation response within 3 to 5 minutes. The session lasts from 20 to 30 minutes unlike other therapies which last one hour. It is practiced and taught worldwide for over 40 years from major medical centers, Colleges, hospices, private practice to within families. Dr Krieger, PhD, RN Co developed Therapeutic Touch with a Natural Healer, Dora Kunz. TT has the most extensive research base of integrative therapies validating the relief or reduction of pain, relaxation, sense of wellbeing, increase in immune system, etc.
Dorthea used examples of Therapeutic Touch research with practitioners. These are two different therapies. Each has its own specific research and programs.
I recommend that you contact Dr Krieger, now Professor Emerita of New York University. She would be a wonderful person to interview. She is a brilliant lady who has written many papers and books on Therapeutic Touch. It would be a great interview. Dr Krieger just turned 90 and has such a wealth of knowledge. She is truly an elder in the field of Energetic medicine!
It is hard to really know how many people have learned TT. We can estimate that TT has been taught to at least a half million or more people world wide, esp. medical people.
As an aside, TT has been shown to enhance / speed up wound and bone healing. Recently, there has been a study of bone cells and it has shown that a TT practitioner increased the osteoblasts which are the bone cells more significantly than just regular intervention. It also increased fibroblasts and other cells in healing.
I could go on. I have practiced TT for over twenty years. I myself learned TT from Dr Krieger over twenty years ago. I had the good fortune to also study over the years with Dora Kunz as well as Dr Krieger.
Dorthea is a wonderful lady, who is also very versed in Therapeutic Touch. I get the feeling and sense in this interview that she is talking more about TT than HT. In the early days of the development of HT, the developer of HT, Janet Mentgen, learned TT first. She then began to develop HT. Janet told me on several occasions that she used TT as the “foundation for HT.” However, HT is a very different therapy than TT. HT has over 36 different “techniques.” of which I did not hear Dorthea speak about. TT is a dynamic process and does not use techniques. It is one therapy and one in which the practitioner uses sustained centering.
This is the first I have heard your program and enjoyed it. I look forward to listening to other interviews.

It seems to me that a big part of what Dorothea is talking about is caring enough for another being to take the time to center our self, give them our undivided compassionate attention, and want for their highest good.
I would like to believe that this could avail much good. Is anyone aware of any studies done on the effectiveness of this practice? I understand that there is a similar formal medical practice to this in Chinese medicine.
