more from Peter Levine & Maggie Phillips:
I really like the practical focus of this show. On the crisis line I answer, a significant proportion of the suicidal callers we get are suffering from chronic physical pain.
I was severely annoyed (maybe occasionally suffered) by chronic pain for 18 years. The pain ended the day I saw the xray of the bone tumor that my body was trying to tell me about.

After coming to the conclusions that Peter and Maggie discuss in this podcast on my own, and healing myself thru methods other than “let’s get a psychatric eval so we can give you drugs” I was so excited/externally validated by their discussion. I encourage anybody with chronic pain to give serious consideration to their approach, and see how it fits with them. I literally reached the bottom of the well of hopelesness and recovered. So many people are still there. Just because chronic pain has been so misunderstood and doctors are so scared of it, does not mean it has to stay that way. If it works for you – tell your Dr. It’s time for us to educate them.

This fine talk applies to even more than physical pain. One of the reasons we suffer is due to a negative feedback loop we create that tends to include a tense bracing against what is. When it is safe to do so it may help to relax this bracing by first being aware we are doing it and then doing some breathing, stretching, and shaking.
I have been so fascinated by the topics of these Soundstrue talks for so long that I am only just now becoming aware of how nicely produced they are. From the first moment until the very last it is a beautiful listening experience. Thank you Tami and your creative and skillful staff.
