Tami Simon speaks with Dr. Lawrence Edwards, president of the Kundalini Research Network and founder of kundalinisupport.org, a Kundalini support website. A meditation teacher, board-certified neurotherapist, and licensed psychotherapist, Lawrence has created with Sounds True an audio training program titled Awakening Kundalini: The Path to Radical Freedom. In this episode, Tami speaks with Lawrence about how to avoid common pitfalls in the Kundalini awakening process, what the role of our ego mind is in a Kundalini awakening, and the nature of a Kundalini energy transmission from a teacher. He also shares an empowered mantra to work with as part of the Kundalini awakening process. (70 minutes)

Thank you for this beautiful conversion. At the end of it, I felt more fired up to continue making time for doing my yoga poses and breathing exercises. It propelled me into exploring more deeply the practice of mantra meditation. Dr. Edwards, I got the clear impression that when you spoke, you were an instrument of the divine (like we all are). I always love it when people speak of being compassionate of our human flaws. Most of all, I felt so peaceful after listening to you speak with Tami. I’ve experienced kundalini several times and it’s absolutely unmistakable when it happens, it literally rises up like a snake from the root chakra out the top of the head. It’s an incredible experience, I got to experience it in slow motion. It’s like an exquisite liquid warm soft light that travels somehow, up your spine in front.

That I am.when he spoke of the power of the mantra,and how it desolves and you become the essense of it,I actualy felt that,I was one with the universe.

I listened to half of this talk and felt Dr. Edwards has no idea what a kundalini awakening is…..

As a fellow student of Swami Muktananda and a student of one of his successors, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Nityananda, I can verify most of what Lawrence says; thanks for sharing Lawrence. My advice might be that playing with Kundalini is like playing with fire. It is best to have it awakened and unfolded under the refuge of an authentic guru;. otherwise enter at your own risk.
I suspect that even at the human level Muktananda might not have been as flawed as many people think. I would also be fascinated to know if there have been any studies done on how his thousands of students have done in life? I plan to elaborate on my reflections on a post at Integrallife.

This was an amazing interview. I have not heard such a clear and easy to understand explanation of kundalini energy as this was.
