Mario Martinez: Empowerment and ‘Navigating the Drift’
Tuesday, October 2, 2012
Tami Simon speaks with Mario Martinez, a clinical neuropsychologist whose breakthrough research examines how cultural beliefs affect our health and longevity. Mario is the founder of biocognitive science, a new paradigm that examines the dynamic relationship between thoughts, culture, and the body. With Sounds True, he has recorded an audio learning course called The Mind-Body Code: How the Mind Wounds and Heals the Body. In this episode, Tami speaks with Mario about the idea that culture creates biology; how we can access the antidote to shame, abandonment, and betrayal through healing fields in the body; and the concept of “the drift”—how we can navigate chaos with uncertainty as our guide. more from Mario Martinez:
That was a very powerful talk by Mario Martinez – thank you. It was also good to hear you expand on some of his concepts. I will be interested to explore his work further.

!Muchas Gracias Mario y Tami!
Actually I know Mario thru CMED (Caroline Myss’s institution) and really enjoy listening to his interesting talks. This time it has given me more insights than ever. Most probably this is due to having less resistance and more willingness to leave the miserable safety area : ))) I had to go back and rewatch CMED videos & listen to preivous Sounds True podcast to get a wholistic view of his concepts. Now it makes much more sense for navigating in chaos (observing rather than validating) especially with having a high self-worth to adjust & sustain to a new level of living. I do feel now i am ready for a big jump and you do have a part in this.
This time I was triggered by Brene Brown’s talk (recent insight at the edge podcast) to go back and listen to Martinez’s talks as she explained joy being most vulnerable thing that we can face and Mario advocated the same by saying joy is a very dangerous emotion to handle with.
Tami thank you once more for this service. Probably I would not have known about many very interesting wise experts as I live in Estambul Turkey. I feel very fortunate for having discovered your site and do share this valuable service with my friends.
Mario, quiero viajar a centro y sudamerica un dia y puedo verte en montevideo, quisas.

“eppur si muove” is as far as Galileo went with his assertions.
The honors of conceiving a heliocentric system based on observations of others goes to Copernicus.
Coincidence and friendliness does not synchronicity make.
