Jeff Foster: The Deepest Acceptance: Part 2
Tuesday, January 1, 2013
Tami Simon speaks with Jeff Foster, who was voted one of the world’s 100 most spiritually influential living people by the Watkins Review in 2012. Jeff teaches from his own awakened experience, belonging to no tradition or lineage, and makes his teaching accessible to all. With Sounds True, he has created a new book, The Deepest Acceptance: Radical Awakening in Ordinary Life, and an accompanying audio program. In this second half of a two-part interview, Jeff speaks with Tami about addiction, physical pain, and the core challenge of being with discomfort. He also talks about illusions about spiritual awakening as a permanent state of bliss and what “real spirituality” might mean. (74 minutes)

I listened with interest. to Jeff…I “subscribe” to Eckhart Tolle’s teachings the fundamentals which are aligned with the teachings of such greats as Ramana Maharshi, Krishnamurthi, & Barry Long together with a mystical interpretation of Christ’s teachings.
Do you see anything in Jeff’s work which adds to these teachings?

The two part interview with Jeff Foster is breathtaking in its freshness and spontaneusly liberating. The reptititive style of language is strangely not boring but nails down the “do absolutely nothing but stay with whatever it is ” with sincere urgency.
Gratitude to All involved

A beautiful conversation. It brought me to a deep listening place because what was expressed was of such a rich nature. Thank you again for these podcasts, they have fed me such good food during a very transitional year of my life. I am so grateful.

I woke this morning “on fire”, taking the Christmas tree down and dragging it outside @ 7 am, raking my marriage over the coals mentally, and generally re-visiting my own “epic story” all before morning had fully broken. And so interesting (and even comical) to “watch” myself taking down the decorations, thinking thinking thinking, churing churning, pushing away those “strange thoughts” etc.. Finding Part 2 of Tami’s interview with Jeff was an incredible gift. The deflation is such a relief, in so many ways, such a rest. It is indeed exhausting trying to either keep waves at bay, or hold on. Jeff, you are a gentle, open-hearted teacher. And so easy & soothing to listen to. Thank you. Thank you! Thanks to you too, Tami, for making these podcasts available. You are doing such great work in the world. Happy New Year!

Jeff Foster’s teaching made me think of “Inner Relationship Focusing” as taught by Ann Weiser Cornell who wrote a book called “The Radical Acceptance of Everything”. Jeff may be a bit more compelling speaker than Ms. Cornell, but they seem to be saying the same thing. The world can’t have too many people like them. Thanks.

I’m one of those people who have listened to practically all of the Sounds True interviews while working on art in my studio. Its not that I’m ‘seeking’, rather I’d say, I’m remembering. Sounds True interviews are great reminders of my True Self which I have never lost, but is more elusive sometimes than others.
