We’re gonna talk about a very interesting topic tonight. One that people have trouble hitting head-on because it’s so subtle. I’m going to start by saying it’s about positive experiences. There are teachings, the ancient teachings, a lot of teachings, a lot of religious teachings that talk about stay away from positive experiences.

Stay away from things you enjoy. Stay away from things that turn you on. Stay away from things that tempt you. Stay away from all this stuff. I’m going to have fun tonight just calling those positive experiences. Let’s start in the beginning by saying there’s two types of positive experiences. No, there’s a couple of types.

One is basal, primal, mostly body-oriented. Your senses, taste, sight, touch, smell, et cetera. You can have what are called positive experiences, meaning, first of all, it’s a positive experience. Something makes you feel good. How’s that? That’s a positive experience. So yes, you can get into things physiologically that because of the nature of the senses and they’re there to…

It’s funny, not there to tempt you, but if you realize that you’re way back in here, if they don’t pull you down, you don’t even know it’s here. Who cares, right? So you could argue that positive experiences were created in order for the soul, God, to come down and play in his world. The difference is, though, there are some experiences that are strictly body-oriented.

They have no positive effect. They just feel good. They smell good. They taste good, and you are drawn down for really no reason other than to bind the soul into liking these positive experiences. The shallow ones are indeed very dangerous. Why? They become an addiction. Obviously, if you– even a smell can be an addiction, and certainly touch can be an addiction, and hearing, they can be addictions, that basically you hear or see or taste something that really turns you on.

There’s no way in the world you don’t want to do it again. Do you understand that? Not one of you don’t want to do it again unless you get into your spiritual head, which I’m, I’m going to encourage you in this talk not to, all right? That it’s wrong. I shouldn’t be doing this. The truth of the matter is, if you’re objective and you look at it and you like it, you want to do it again.

The problem is it becomes an addiction. What’s wrong with that? Then it binds you. It doesn’t end up… If you do enough cocaine, if you do enough sex, if you do enough any of these things, you have to do more. You constantly have to do more in order for it to stimulate you to have the same effect it had before.

I told you before, I, I went through a doctorate… Well, didn’t finish my dissertation. But otherwise, went through a doctorate in economics, and they teach you this law of diminishing returns. I never thought I’d be teaching it in a temple. It’s a very important law. It’s a economic law. What does it say? The more you get something, the less you need it or want it.

That is a truth. And, and you get used to it. The senses get used to it. So if you stimulate your senses a certain way, you have to be stronger. You have to find a different way. So you’re addicted, you become addicted to the sensation coming from the senses, which does not last. I give the example of taste, right?

Staying away from the big one. All right? Let’s talk about taste. So there’s this food that you really, really like. You visited, you know, Italy once before, and oh my God, you had this meal and you never had anything like it again. But I love you so much, and I spend the money, and I fly over to America the finest Italian chef that makes the finest dish that you like and comes over here and makes that dish for you that night.

There’s your present. Do you like it? Yeah. Would you like to have it for dinner tomorrow night, as long as the chef is here? You bet I would. How about the night after? Sure. How about breakfast, lunch, and dinner for five days in a row? Ah! Give me spinach or Brussels sprouts. So the net result is there’s no way you’re gonna say, “Yes, I wanna have that meal.”

The chef makes it the same way. It’s just tasted the same. Test it with everything you can test. It is exactly as good, if not better. All right? There’s no way you don’t get sick of that very, very soon. That is the law of diminishing returns. It’s a real economic law, okay? It’s used for marketing. It’s used for all kinds of things.

So basically, it is the newness of the experience that does what? So let’s talk about why it has this effect. You’re in here. You got problems in there. You got worries and anxieties and hopes and dreams and preferences and fears, and you got stuff in there, don’t you? And it’s not easy to get rid of it, okay?

So if something comes that shocks you, the sunset just shocked you when you turned the corner. It, it… You know what it did? It blew you away. Ever use that expression? It blew me away. Well, you guys are so spiritual. What a, what a brilliant thing to say. That’s all the teaching is. What did it blow away? What did it blow away?

It blew away all that garbage you have inside your mind and inside your heart that has you bound on a regular basis. All of a sudden, this thing was strong enough when it came in through your senses and touched you, that that stuff went away by itself. Didn’t have to meditate. You didn’t have to do mantra.

Make sure you do your mantra before. If you did your mantra before looking at it, it wouldn’t do a thing to you. But the mantra and the mantra can do something. But that sight wouldn’t do a thing to you because you’re busy with the mantra. You have to be open to experiencing the experience that you’re having, but you normally are not.

You’re normally very busy inside yourself, and that’s the experience you’re having. So if something happens that distracts you, this is the key to what it means to like something. If it distracts you from yourself, if it does not distract you from yourself, you’re with yourself. Go to Hawaii and take yourself with you. And don’t have anything happen that is shocking enough to make you get out of your mind.

How’d you like your trip? Boring. Go to a movie and go into the theater and sit down, and the entire time of the movie you’re aware you’re sitting inside of a theater. It’s sticky and hot and smelly, a stranger’s sitting next to you. How you doing? You like the movie? Having a nice experience? You like it?

Of course not. Go to the movie and it captures your attention. What does that mean, captures your attention? You’re no longer thinking like you were thinking when you walked in the theater. What does it mean, entertaining? It drew your consciousness and awareness toward the movie or toward the instrument, you know, the beautiful concert.

It drew your attention away from yourself, and because of that, you had an experience, right? Go to the exact same concert 15 times in a row. No, you’re not gonna go to the exact same thing, playing the exact same thing over and over and over again. At some point, it doesn’t have the, the newness or the effect of shocking you away from yourself.

You start saying, “Oh, it wasn’t as good as last time.” You hear me? You’re still there, but if it blows you away, meaning it blew away all that noise, then your consciousness has the ability to be attracted to that, and you have this nice experience. What is the experience? It is a Shakti experience. See, I can bring in a spiritual word.

Anything that feels good is Shakti. Shakti got caught, she opened up, you felt her rise up, okay? Doesn’t mean it’s a healthy thing for you, doesn’t mean you should be doing it all the time, but if it doesn’t capture your attention and distract you from yourself so that a higher energy can make it through your centers, you’re not gonna feel anything.

So let’s go back down to, to food or taste or touch or smell. These are very basal, primal levels that have sensations. And if they’re strong enough and you’re not used to them… Well, why do… I’m being very bad. Are there or are there not S&M shops in New York? Yes or no? Yes. Okay? All right. Why in the world would somebody pay good money to get S&M’d?

All right? It’s not… I’m not picking on them. If you do that, so that’s your thing, all right? But why would you do that? ‘Cause you’re so closed, you’re so blocked, that it takes pain, not too much. Why, they have a special word or something, right? Not too much, but it better be something that distracts you from your everyday experience.

And executives go to these things. Why? Because they’re so closed, they’re so caught in their mind, they’re so caught that the energy can’t flow. It only goes to the mind and gets all involved with the mental stuff, all right? And so I’m just giving you a stupid example, but they’re real examples when people really do stuff, all right?

Why do people do extreme sports? They do extreme sports. What’s an extreme sport? I went to the Army Navy store and noticed there were parachutes, and some of them had a mark on them, 50/50. Oh, I wonder what that meant. Well, I bought it, and when I was up there in that plane, I look at that 50/50 Ah. I ain’t thinking about the wife or the kids or the finances.

That thing has pushed it to a point of extremism. What does it mean? It distracted you. It blew your mind. When you jump out of that plane, and you go to pull that thing that’s the 50/50 floating in your face, right? People do extreme things because they wanna feel the energy. It’s no different than eating.

It’s no… You know, there’s just quieter things than 50/50s or S&M’s. All right? You, so you enjoy eating, but if it’s the same meal all the time, you don’t. So you have to keep changing what you’re doing in order for it to stimulate the energy to wake you up, to, to do this, to, to a change. All right? So that’s the lowest level of what it means to have an enjoyable experience.

It’s just very simple. Yes, you have senses. Yes, they’re receptive. As long as it’s different, and it can’t be the same all the time. I’m telling you right now, it does not turn you on. Okay? A- and by the way, well, we’ll go there in a minute. Everything has a law of diminishing returns until you learn to transcend it by understanding what’s going on.

So there we have the basis level of, why shouldn’t I do what I enjoy? You notice my teachings do not tell you not to do what you enjoy, but I would like to understand what you’re doing. I’d like to understand what’s going on, right? If you get involved in base level things, they’re going to betray you.

They’re not gonna keep turning you on, and you have to find another way to turn on. I mean, the, the, the classic of course, people who do coke, people who do heroin, people who do heavier drugs, they like it so mu- they don’t do it again if they don’t like it. But what happens is the like and the addiction start to fight each other.

Now it becomes a habit. Now it becomes something you have to have to be okay, as opposed to have to feel better. That’s the epitome of the law of diminishing returns, okay? It betrays you. The senses betray you. The senses are not… I’m not teaching you this. You should know this. The senses can get stimulated for a short period of time.

If everything’s exactly the way it likes it to be, you can get a high, you can get a rush, you can get turned on. To chase that, that’s what the religions are trying to teach you about lust, greed, and that kind of stuff, right? Is if you chase that, you’ve chased a very low energy that’s gonna betray you.

You’re not gonna go anywheres with that. But you can’t say that you don’t enjoy it. So there is a balance in understanding what does it mean to have an enjoyable experience, and are they wrong? It’s not a matter of wrong. It’s a matter of being wise. How’s that? Guess what? Somebody once asked, I shouldn’t talk like this.

Somebody asked me, “What if marijuana became legal in the state of Florida?” Could happen. Would I… I’m telling the truth. I’m not teaching you anything. I’m sharing, right? Would I smoke if, if it was legal? And my immediate answer is, “I, I absolutely would not.” Why? He said, “Why? You might like it.” I think I would like it, and that’s why I wouldn’t do it.

For the same reason I’m teaching you. I’m, I’m happy. I’m fine. I’m wonderful. Why do I need something to be dependent upon? And if you like it, you’re gonna wanna do it again. Why would I do that to him? I like him. Why would I make him experience something that he likes and then not let him have it? Or let him have it and ruin his life?

Okay? That’s wisdom. That’s not renunciation. That’s not renunciation. Renunciation is I want it, I wanna do it, I see no reason not to do it, but I’m not supposed to, and I’m not gonna do it. That’s a whole different ballgame. So we’re going up the ladder of what it means to enjoy something, right? Eventually, you get to the point where you know you could enjoy it, but you don’t want to.

You really don’t want to. Why do I wanna put my body or my senses or my mind through something that is gonna betray me? And it’s gonna betray me. It doesn’t work. That’s why. You mature enough to the point that you understand that central input is not enough to take you where you wanna go. That doesn’t mean you’re renouncing nice experiences.

You’re just saying there’s something richer, and I’d rather go for the gold. I’d rather go for what’s richer than sit around, hanging around with things that I know in the end is gonna betray me. But in any event, you get to the point that you’re mature enough. That’s what it is. It’s a maturity of the soul.

It’s not renunciation. It’s not denial. It is not fear. Those should not be the factor. You should be wise enough and have gone through enough in your life to be wise enough to understand that the short-term stuff does not work. It’s short-term. And when you involve yourself with the short-term stuff, you gypped yourself for the long-term stuff.

So if you’re living off the lower energies, and only I just lower because they’re just bodily-oriented, not that they’re bad. They’re just energies. It’s all just Shakti. I tell you, it’s all said and done. Anything that’s going on that feels good, it’s just the Shakti came up. Then you start getting s- a little more connoisseur-ish about the stuff.

Cheap wine’s not good enough. You start paying attention. You say, “Well, what makes the Shakti come up?” Well, it could be this thing called love Well, that’s pretty different. Not necessarily physically oriented. It’s something that happens inside of you. I’m skipping a bunch of steps, all right? But something happens inside of you because your heart opened.

You no longer call it because I had a drug, because I went to a thing or I did all these different things to get high. My heart opened. Why? Well, we can look at that. But when your heart opens, you like it, don’t you? Does it have to have a law of diminishing returns? It does not have to have a law of diminishing returns, period.

Does it usually? Usually it does, but I’ll explain to you why. And that’s when you start to understand what it means to get a connoisseur of having a positive experience. Love is a very positive experience. By the way, before I even hit love, there are other positive experiences. How does it feel to win?

Competitive sport, business, finances. How does it feel? Get high? Okay, same thing. Why? It wasn’t what you were used to. It’s like, “Oh my God, he bought it. I had a big sale. I’m gonna meet the quarter.” All right? When you receive experiences that, in a sense, shock you out of your natural negativity, and you know you have it, fears, anxieties, desires, or…

There’s just all kinds of stuff, kind of goes on back there. You know you’re not getting everything you want, right? But sometimes you have a positive experience. What does that mean? God, how do I do this quickly? I’m trying to take a topic that’s so big, all right? What does it mean? It means that over the course of your life, you’ve had experiences that turned you on and turned you off.

The ratio is about 1,000 to one. Every single day of your life, the weather, the this, when somebody talks to you, what they wore, and every single thing turns you off, has a tendency to turn you off. How many things blow you away? I’m sorry to tell you, it’s very rare. So you’ve stored this stuff. Now, an event is happening outside.

It happens to match what you stored from your past as a very positive experience, okay? It is going to open you. Why? Because it matched. The energy coming in matched the energy inside, and you opened, and you felt love, and you felt inspiration, and you felt, whoa. You know? It’s exhilaration. That’s Shakti.

It’s all Shakti. Get that straight. Don’t ever think that something’s God and not God. There’s no energy in this universe but God. The question is, is it flowing? So when something matches your mental or emotional preferences, you get higher. You feel positive. Why doesn’t it last? Because I told you, there’s about 1,000 to one of the things that will turn you on versus the thing to turn you off.

Everything turns you off. Pay attention, okay? Somebody’s wearing the same dress as you when you went to the party. Somebody’s dancing a little too closely with somebody who you thought you might be interested in someday. It doesn’t take much, does it? But it takes an awful lot to open you. So what happens is it opens.

It can open. It can’t be love at first sight. It can be over time. You learn to get together, you learn more about somebody, and, and you’re more open. You become open toward them. In general, you all, and it’s true, every one of you, you’re afraid to open your heart. Why? You’ve gotten hurt before, and you put a little governor on that little thing.

Calm down. I think we’re gonna have a few more dates before we decide whether we like somebody, right? And then you get to know them better or something, and you feel safer. Very hard for you to open your heart when you don’t feel safe. That’s part of the game, that as long as it matches everything… What do you mean?

I told you he doesn’t slurp his soup. He gets along with my father, or he doesn’t get along with my father, and I like that. It’s whatever you want. It happens to match what’s going on out there, or at least you project it that way. You understand? I mean, wait till you find out. Wait till you find out what they’re really like.

Come on, you’ve been around the block. They’re never the way you thought they were, and they’ll never be the way you think they’re gonna be. Ever. Never. They can’t be. I’ve explained it to you a million times. They are the sum of their learned experiences. That’s what they are. Those are the experiences they had that molded their psyche, that molded what they like and don’t like and how they act and what they accept and what they don’t accept and every single thing.

And you are the sum of your learned experiences. And you did not have the same experiences, did you, since you were born? Not even close. So no one is gonna match what you decided you wanted inside. But if it looks like somebody might, they just pulled up with the right kind of car and they opened the door, and he actually opened the door for you.

People don’t do that anymore. Wow, that’s really very chivalrous. I like that. Because you watched a movie once where somebody opened the door for somebody, right? And, and next thing you know, you’re opening. You’re feeling safe. Wait till you find out what this person’s really like. Have you, have you not been in a relationship where you found out what the person’s really like?

Have you ever said to somebody, “I can’t believe you did that. I would never have done that”? How could you do that to me? That sounds rational, doesn’t it? That’s completely irrational. They had totally different upbringing. They look at it totally different than you do, right? But it ain’t gonna show up in the beginning.

Why? Because they’re trying to impress you to like them. It’s not their fault. You’re trying to have a nice experience. So you start seeing why it doesn’t tend to last. You stay together for the kids, right? You stay together for finances. We’re really good friends. That’s beautiful. That’s not the same as love.

They said, some people say, “Well, that’s mature love.” No, no. That love that you feel that blows you away, that’s love, and it can be there all the time, and that’s what I’m talking to you about. Again, go for the gold. So we have the, the base level physiological enjoyments, and they’re rather shallow, but they’re not wrong.

They’re just shallow, okay? And then you start to get into psychological where things are matching what you want. You can think about something that you really get turned on to think it might happen and get turned on. Just a thought can do it, can’t it? It’s called positive thinking. You talk positive thinking.

Well, let’s go the opposite. I want you to be all excited while you’re being tremendously negative, when your mind is saying, “This will never work. No, it’s not gonna work. I can’t even trust any of this stuff, and it never works out for me.” Now let’s see you open up and feel wonderful. What’s that all about?

It’s about the fact that your body, your heart, and your mind are different vibration levels of energy. That’s all they are. Someday they are gonna develop machinery, instruments that can read your thoughts, not s- guess at them. Why? They’re really there. When you’re having a thought, where is it? Point to it.

Where is it? You don’t even bother thinking like that. You say, “Well, it’s nowheres.” Well, it is so. You’re looking at it, you see it, you experience it. You have thoughts. Can somebody else tune into your thoughts? Absolutely. S- a true psychic, rare, far between, but there are real psychics that can tune into your thoughts, and someday the machines will do it.

Why? Let’s get this straight. Thoughts are things. A thought is a real thing. You can create it with the power of mind, but it’s really there. When you sit in a car driving with somebody and all of a sudden you both turn to each other and say together, “Have you thought about Sis- Charlie?” And no one has thought about Charlie or mentioned it for five years and nothing happened that would be any reason why that came into your mind.

Ever happen? You’re tuning into each other’s thoughts. They’re there. They’re real. They are real. They’re just a very high vibration rate of energy. So if you are having positive thoughts, you feel better. Of course you do. You’re more open. There’s more energy coming through. If you have negative thoughts, then the energy stops flowing ’cause it’s capped at that level.

Dark thoughts are dark High thoughts are high, and they just can get you going. They can get, be nice, all right? So, so the problem is, generally, you’re not in control of your thoughts. Something has to happen outside that makes your mind turn positive. You see somebody you haven’t seen for years, you’ve been in a bad mood, you’ve been depressed, you feel low, and you see this person and just somehow, whoa, the whole mind changes, doesn’t it?

All of a sudden, “Wow, I haven’t seen her for so long. I wonder what she’s up to?” Your whole conversation inside changes, and you feel energy because these are vibration rates of energy. The same thing with your emotions. Go have some really bad emotions, depression. Get depressed. Don’t. What does it mean to be depressed?

It means your emotional plane, that energy plane, is vibrating at a very… There are planes of reality. What do you mean planes of reality? The primal vibration of creation is a very, very high vibration, right? God created heavens and Earth, right? It’s a high vibration. It sinks down and down and down and down and down and down and down, and the lower vibrations are very hard to raise up.

As you work with them, you can raise the energy up. You can raise your mind up, you know? Or something can happen outside based upon the stuff you stored inside you. You know about all of that, psychology and suppression, repressions, and denials, and resistances. You store that stuff inside of you, and what happens when you store negativity inside of you?

Don’t you dare think it doesn’t have an effect on your life. Every single negative thing you ever stored inside of you is still inside of you. Why? Because you won’t let it go. When it tries to come back up, you push it back down. It is blocking your energy flow, okay? It’s all about energy. The lower vibrations of energy block the ability for the highers to come up and vibrate at that level, ’cause the lower levels are keeping them down.

All right, so now we were talking about love or, or success or inspiration, right? These things happen because your mind and your heart match what’s happening outside. You’re not getting inspired by something that turns you off. It’s not something you even talk about, right? ‘Cause you, you live it every day of your life.

You’re not paying attention. So then basically, you look for things that will turn you on, and you try to think of things that will turn you on. That’s a person’s positive mind. That’s really, really nice, okay? You can find out when I’m done, that’s not high enough It’s good. It’s very nice to work with it.

If you work with positive mental energy, you can attract more things to you, and not just attract, you’re more capable of interacting with them from a positive point of view, therefore you create positive. Positive generates positive, darkness generates darkness, okay? And this is not a religious teaching

It’s physics. It’s truth. So the whole time we’re talking about is enjoyable experiences. So now we’ve worked all the way down from the sensual stuff, which is very short-lived, and now we’re getting up to more psychological stuff, which can either be short-lived or not, and you’ve been turned on, and then all of a sudden somebody dies, and all of a sudden somebody leaves you, then all of a sudden you lose your job, then all of a sudden the market goes down, and it just…

You’re gonna interact with the world, and it’s not gonna be the way you want all the time. And then all of a sudden it’s hard to stay positive, and people can get depressed. So what was happening? You were living off the fact that the outside matched the inside. What happens if the outside doesn’t match the inside?

Ah. What happens if suddenly the outside does match the inside and surprises you? “Oh, my God, she said she loved me. I didn’t even know she noticed me. I can’t wait to see her again.” Right? Then she says, “It was April Fools’. I was kidding.” How fast does it go? All right? So that’s another type of an enjoyable experience.

But again, its basis is the psychological mumbo jumbo that’s going on inside of you based upon experience you’ve had from your past. You don’t decide what you like and dislike. You do not. You’re programmed by your past experiences. Do you understand that? Say, “No, I went to Nepal.” Why’d you go to Nepal?

What if you didn’t go to Nepal? Right? Every… You don’t think of what I say. You’re the sum of your learned experiences. People don’t get it. Every experience you have is programming you. So yes, if you went to Nepal and sat with some Buddhist monks and had an amazing experience, it has programmed you. If, on the other hand, you went there and then found out that they were all frauds and they were trying to get your money, it programmed you So your experience is programming what you like and dislike.

You are not deciding. You’re deciding based upon the experiences you had. And you know it, right? You sit there and tell somebody, “No, no, I did that trip. I went up to Nepal. They were all just getting rid of money. I couldn’t even believe it.” Okay, there you go. Somebody else, “Wow, that’s not true. I had this amazing experience with the masters up there.

Became enlightened and I had these moments.” Right? Which is it? It’s whatever you experienced and how you interpreted what you experienced, which is based upon what you experienced before. There, that’s 25-degree chess. You know, it’s not even what happened. It’s based upon what happened before to you, how you saw what happened, and how you interpreted it.

That is the sum of your learned experiences. So yes, the physiological being is gonna betray you. Not, not bad, but it will not take you there. It’s not that positive an experience. It’s not strong enough to last. Well, the psychological is exactly the same. I skipped 20 steps in between. It’s exactly the same, and most of you don’t know that yet.

If you go out there looking for someone who’s gonna turn you on, good luck. That’s one thing if you meet somebody and it turns you on, that’s a nice experience you’re having. But if you go out there looking for someone that matches your past experiences and what you want them to be like, right? But it doesn’t have to ma- doesn’t have to match.

Like let’s, let’s say they like dogs, okay? And you like dogs. Well, that’s a reason to fall in love, till one of the dogs dies, or it’s the wrong kind of dog, or poops all over the place. And then what are you doing? You’re taking what your mind is telling you will turn you on. It didn’t turn you on, but you’re saying…

Again, I have a little time. You have the… Oh, God, I’m getting in so much trouble with this talk. There’s dating sites. You know about that? I’m a computer guy, all right? There’s dating sites. By the way, they were programmed by a geek, all right? So didn’t know a thing about love or anything else, right? Okay, so how does a dating site work?

They start off, do you prefer male or female? Now they ask that first, right? So we get that down, right? Then it says, do you like blondes or brunettes or things, right? Do you like somebody who’s fairly loose with their behavior or somebody who’s strict and religious? And do you like this kind of food?

Do you like these kind of animals? What kind of animal do you like? And they just go right down the list, and you will be filling this out, and you are so excited to turn it in. Why turn it in? You already met yourself.

You understand that? You’re trying to describe you. You sit there saying, “Oh, well, that’s the kind of food I like.” What if they filled out they like the opposite kind of foods you like, and they like opposite everything else you do? I don’t think so. I’m not interested. Why’d they bother filling the thing out, right?

You are describing you, and you are the sum of your learned experiences, and you’re going fishing to sit there and say, “There’s somebody out there that’s gonna match me.” There is not. There can’t be. Why? Because they’re the sum of their learned experiences. Now, can there be a very powerful experience that you had that dominated all your other experiences?

And could they have had a similar experience or somehow associated that makes you feel better about it? Yes. But that… They’re gonna find out that’s just one experience. They’re much more complicated than that, and maybe they don’t even know it. Then all of a sudden, mommy comes up. Gonna get to Freud, right?

There’s all this stuff in there, and so eventually you get to the point where you realize your psychological matchings. How about if I say it this way? Getting what you want is very short-lived. There’s not a single time that any of you got what you wanted and didn’t want something else. No matter what it is.

It goes for relationships, it goes for children, it goes for cars, it goes for jobs. There’s even diminishing returns on this stuff, and not to mention that you- have you ever changed your mind? Have you ever changed your mind? “Well, now what do I do? I filled out that form and, and something happened yesterday and I don’t feel that way anymore.”

That’s how easy it can change. So how are you gonna find what matches you when you’re not even matching you? And you start catching on that, yes, I’ve showed you how the body can be short-lived with its, yes, it was a nice experience, enjoyable experience. I’m telling you, eventually you’ll reach a point, but you have to be very mature, that you realize the psyche’s no different.

It’s as fickle as the body. It’ll be easier. The body’s at least physiological. The psyche’s, oh, whatever you want. Think of whatever you want. Go to bed, have a nightmare, wake up in the morning and have a totally different opinion about your job or about the person sleeping next to you. It’s just the psyche is just nothing.

It just changes with a whim. In fact, you have to be taught not to change. You should be more disciplined with your mind and so on, because otherwise you’re gonna go all over the freaking place. And so those type of experiences, and we’re getting in- into more deeper territory now, you’re gonna go through that.

You’re going to go through experiences that are enjoyable at the psychological level, mental and emotional. They’re enjoyable because they match what you thought you wanted. They’re not enjoyable because they didn’t match. They match what you thought you wanted, and you’re gonna get high off of it. And in most cases, you’re gonna go running after it, which is different than running after cocaine or heroin or even, you know, 50/50s, right?

It’s, it’s safer sometimes, all right? And but basically it’s, it’s gonna do the same thing. You know you change your mind. Have you… Okay, now don’t look at anybody around you. Have you ever thought you were madly in love with somebody and they did something or said something or didn’t say something or didn’t do something and you went in a little struggle inside yourself?

Who am I kidding? Do I really like this guy? I don’t know. I, I don’t think I like someone who did something like that. How fast can it change? Anybody? Oh, then all of a sudden, yeah, that’s what’s happening, right? He or she tells you, “I’m gonna call you in 15 minutes. I miss you so much. I’m gonna rush home and call you in 15, yeah, and be, be home in 15 minutes.”

Half hour goes by. Every minute of that half hour, boy, is he lying to me? Is he there with somebody else? What’s… Come on, what does my do, right? Does all that kind of junk, right? And you finally say, “Well, I don’t put up with this. I got 45 minutes late, he didn’t even call. That’s absolutely ridiculous,” right?

And you’re really closed. Can you do that? Can you do that? Isn’t that hilarious? All right. Then what happens? Then all of a sudden he or she shows up, opens the door with four dozen of the most beautiful roses you’ve ever seen and says, “Happy three-week anniversary.”

To which you had no idea how long does it take for you to go from closed, I’ve had it, to oh my God, I love you so much? Answer me. Are you willing to look and see what’s going on? The mind and the heart are fickle. The human mind and the human heart are fickle. They’re based on their past experiences, and if things seem to match, they’ll open.

If things seem to not match, they’ll close. And if things don’t open you, then you get bored. I, I don’t wanna talk about it. It’s amazing. Okay? So now you have this next level of an enjoyable experience. Does that mean you shouldn’t have relationships? Of course it doesn’t mean that, right? It doesn’t even mean that you shouldn’t eat something that you enjoy.

It means that you’re wise enough, right? I used to do it, to leave a little bit of the thing that you like the most on the plate. Why? Just so you don’t get attached. Just so that you’re not playing this game of more is better, ’cause more is not better. There’s diminishing returns, okay? So there’s a certain amount of wisdom, the discipline of wisdom, that helps you enjoy, keep doing a reasonable level of enjoyment, and that’s why they say lust.

I don’t use words like that, right? What they mean by lust is you don’t have that wisdom. You don’t have that balance, and it just, grr, you go lusting after something without any thinking. You just go jump after it ’cause it has some good energy. Fair enough? Good definition of lust. Okay? That doesn’t mean that food’s lust, right?

It means you’re disciplined enough to enjoy it and balance yourself. It’s the same thing psychologically. Do you say, “Do you never have a relationship? I’m a nun, see, and I have no relationship, never touched anybody.” Okay, fine. It’s like, yes, you had no experiences in your life. That’s wonderful, and maybe you meditated deep enough to go into samadhi, all right?

I don’t know if you wasted your life, ’cause you didn’t have one. ‘Cause what? Earth is a place souls are sent to evolve. Did you hide from your evolution? Is that what you did? Okay, so we’re going… I’m talking very maturely. So you’re going to go through experiences that attract you psychologically and emotionally, and some of them you will find out you’re in that relationship.

How? If you know how you got in a relationship, it didn’t blow you away. If you fall in love and it ca-… Gibran, I used to not like Gibran, right? ‘Cause when I would between discipline practices, right? ‘Cause he said, “When love beckons you, follow her.” That a line of love? I said, “What are you telling them? You’re supposed to be a prophet.”

He is. He is a prophet. All right? ‘Cause the next line is, “Though her ways may be steep and painful, and the, the sword hidden in her pinion could wound you,” right? In other words, she’s for your growth. In fact, he literally says, “Just as love is for your growth, so she’s for your, for your pruning.” It’s beautiful.

Gibran on love. All right? And what’s he saying? You go through what you need to go through so you end up higher. It’s not about that one thing. It’s about letting go of yourself. It’s about letting go of yourself and being willing to let go of yourself. Okay? So now we’re sitting in a relationship. You have relationships.

Of course you do. Let’s say you want to have a relationship. That’s a whole different ballgame. Sorry The vast difference between you’re minding your own business, you’re growing, you’re doing the best you can, and you fall in love or a job opportunity comes to you that’s just way too much you can imagine how you could even get that opportunity, right?

There’s no thinking about it. It blows away all the lower energy. You understand that? It guides you. Is that wrong? No, it’s not wrong. Can you be wise about it to understand, okay, this is what’s happening. I’m gonna use this for my growth. It’s not my growth. I can use this for my growth. The fact that I’m so madly in love with you that I can’t see straight, there’s nothing wrong with that because right now, seeing straight means hanging out with me.

Then all of a sudden, I have eyes for you. You, you, you blew my heart away. You, you… I got attracted to that thing. All right? A wise person looks at that. If it’s strong… If it’s not strong enough, again, here’s the difference. If you’re looking for that to happen, I feel sorry for you because it can’t happen while you’re looking for it to happen.

The very fact that your psyche has said, “I need this. I want that,” then that’s not the same thing as your psyche being blown away by the experience of energy. Do you understand that? And so I, I don’t mean I feel sorry for you. I don’t feel sorry for anybody. You go through what you need to go through. All right?

I, I told you I had a friend in, in college, right? Nice young man, and I’ll never forget something he said to me. He said, “I have my job.” He had already graduated. “I’ve got my job, and I really like my job, and I like living in Florida. I like… Oh, I love Gainesville tremendously,” right? “I’m gonna move up to Massachusetts,” right?

“But it’s, it’s cold up there.” “Yeah, I know. I don’t like the cold. I, I like the hot.” “Why are you moving to Massachusetts?” “Well, because there are women colleges up there that are really, really good. I’m very intellectual. I wanna meet an intellectual woman who matches me, and I’m gonna move up there and live in the snow.”

Right? He’s trying to… It never happened, by the way. It isn’t ever gonna be what you think it’s gonna be. It can’t be because your thoughts are made out of your experiences, right? So if you’re looking for it, you’re not gonna find it. It’s not gonna be. You can’t find what you’re looking for because what you’re looking for is your programming from your past.

That’s why you look at it that way, that you want it. Nobody else and no jobs or anything, they are the sum of their learned experiences. Even a business, it grew from its experiences. You’re now stepping, and you see one particular aspect that turns you on, and you think it’s gonna be like that until b-b- your boss gets fired and then some other comes in as the boss, and you can’t stand it.

So you just get to the point Where you’re wise enough, you don’t deny the positive experience. That’s a very positive experience. It’s really beautiful. But you’re wise enough to look at it and you don’t go running. All that glitters is not gold. You don’t go running after it. What I’ve found in my life, and looking at others and stuff, is if it’s so strong that it sweeps you away, that’s not beautiful in the sense that it’s right.

It’s beautiful in the sense that you had no choice. So th- those people don’t write me and say, “I got totally swept away. I’m madly in love. Should I pay attention to the person?” They don’t write that. They, they have no choice. It literally swept them away, okay? There’s a beauty to that, but it is for your teaching.

It is not for you getting what you want. Life is… Okay, here we go. Life is not about getting what you want. Life is not about getting what you want. Why? Because if you get what you want, it can change. If you get what you want, you can change. It’s still conditional, this thing about getting what you want.

You don’t even know what you want. Why do you think you have so many… That, that’s what I write about all the time. “I’m having trouble making a decision. I have an opportunity to move over here or do this, but my career.” Okay, why are you writing me? “Because I can’t decide what to do. I- my mind keeps changing its mind.”

You see what I’m saying? All right? So basically, what happens is if you’re swept away and you’re pulled with an energy, a, a positive energy, a reasonable energy. I’m not talking about drugs or anything. But you’re pulled with a reasonable energy, okay? You’re gonna learn. You’re gonna learn. Y- you needed to go through that or it wouldn’t have had that effect on you.

And so now you’re going through that, and I’m sorry, you’re going to find out it’s not what you thought it was. It’s not going to be. It can’t be, because you’re the one who thought what you want is, and they don’t know anything about that, no matter what they tell you, all right? So you go through the experience, and that’s what life is about.

It’s about learning. About changing, about growing. We just went from a, you know, a drug person w- with low-level energies into somebody who’s doing extreme stuff to try and get a rush, and now we come into more subtler things that I get what I want. There’s some people that only can think of what they want.

Now we go higher and we sit there and say, “Well, something’s happening to me that’s pulling me, drawing me.” People say to me all the time, “Is this God?” I can’t answer you. Of course, it’s God. It’s all God. It’s all God. That’s all there is, is God, all right? So I’m not gonna sit there and say to you, “Oh, if this must be God telling you to change your job and leave your wife and go to, to Nepal.”

Now, I, I’m not gonna do that. I don’t touch that stuff, okay? You sit there and you look inside and say, “What’s going on?” If it draws you and you go, I guarantee you, you will learn You will go through experiences and you will have good experiences and bad experiences like you did before. Doesn’t matter if you’re in Nepal or in Hollywood trying your talents out.

Nobody’s telling you don’t do those things. You just understand you’re growing, you’re following the path that’s pulling you, and you’re growing through it. But you’re not wise if you think this is it. Why? It’s still conditional. It’s conditional. You get an offer in Hollywood and then you get all excited, it can be taken away or you could blow it or anything can happen.

It’s conditional well-being, right? Well, what’s higher than that? Okay, there’s a thing called unconditional well-being. Unconditional well-being. It’s not conditioned upon anything. It’s just there all the time. It cannot betray you, will not leave. What does that mean? When you catch on that the whole talk I’ve given you today is about the Shakti managing to come up higher and higher to higher vibration rates, that’s all, higher vibrations, and as you did that, you work your way through the conditions, you learn, you become wiser, become more educated and so on.

It’s coming up wiser, and then what happens is you catch on, wait a minute, it was never about the girlfriend or boyfriend. It was never about the food. It was never about the sex. It was never about the money. It was never… It was about the Shakti. That’s what it was. The only common feature there that I’ve talked to all night is if something opens you, the energy flows, and that’s what you’re liking.

Even love. You sit down, you’re so madly in love, you sit there opposite each other for hours with energy, literally energy pouring out of your hearts, binding into each other. Ever had it? All right. Just feeding each other. That’s really beautiful. All right? That is Shakti. That is the energy finding its way to the fourth chakra and coming out until somebody burps.

That’s real sensitive, that stuff. I told you, you know, you’re in an intimate moment and he’s just, he’s so, so in love, you’re melting to pieces. You just say, “God, I love you so much. I can’t even talk. I love you so much.” And nothing comes back. What do you mean? You know what I mean. And you’re waiting. You’re not supposed to be waiting.

You’re supposed to be blown away. Well, I was till I told him I loved him and he didn’t say anything. And I kind of nudged him and said, “Hey.” He said, “Oh, yeah, yeah, I love you, too.” Whoa. Didn’t work. He told you he loved you. You don’t understand how sensitive it is? So now what happens? And there’s the shift, and that’s what spiritual is.

You reach the point that you realize, I’ve been chasing experiences instead of experiencing the experience that I was trying to experience, which is the flow of Shakti, the flow of the energy coming in on the inside. And that changes your entire awareness of your path, of what’s going on. And now, now you make much more rational decisions.

Like I said, if it was legal, would you smoke? Well, when you’re feeding off that Shakti, you say, “No, why would I?” Right? I’m gonna trade off something conditional for something unconditional. All right? And I’m not telling you what to do. You go through what you need to go through, okay? If you’re suppressing it because you think I said so, you didn’t hear any of my teachings, okay?

But that doesn’t mean I’m saying go ahead, right? You have to be wise enough to sit there and say, “I now have… I see this beautiful flow of Shakti.” All right? Let, let’s go to a nice topic, love. We’re talking about love. Say you’re in love with somebody and they do something that doesn’t match what you want, but you’re wise enough to realize that you don’t love them.

You love what you feel in their presence You don’t love them. You love what you feel in their presence. How do I know? The moment you stop feeling that in their presence, you start looking for something else. So you’re just wise, and then you reach a point where that happens. And for the f- I wanna see the first time it happens.

You look at it and you say, “I can handle that they weren’t what I expected. I ain’t giving up the Shakti flow. I’m not giving up this beautiful energy that I feel inside because somebody didn’t behave, even my spouse or my kids, the way I expected them to.” And you start letting go of yourself. I mean, now, I told you, there’s a point in my teachings, it always happens to me.

I read the Bible once in my life in 1971. I’m a nice Jewish yogi. All right? But I start talking like this, and all of a sudden, what do you mean there’s an energy inside that’s unconditional, that flows all the time no matter what happens? Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that leaveth the mouth of God.

There is a Shakti flow inside that’s unconditional. It’s not based on the bread. The bread doesn’t mean bread. It means the outside world coming in. And you get to the point where you say, “That’s what I’m about.” And then you realize, “Well, wait a minute. If somebody doesn’t behave the way I want them to, and I feel it start to close,” I said to, “Nah, I’m not gonna close.”

Why? Because I don’t wanna give up the Shakti flow, right? Then all of a sudden, you must die to be reborn. You have to die of the personal self, that one that is willing to close for anything, period, in order to have that flow be unconditional, to have it flow up and stay up. And it can flow up, and it can stay up, and it is unconditional.

No matter what goes on, the great masters reached a state where no matter what is going on outside, it’s not that they don’t see it. It’s that, not that you don’t see it. It’s that you’re so intoxicated with the inner flow that you don’t judge it, and that’s where judge not that ye shall not be judged.

Like, “He who is without sin, throw the first stone.” You understand that? All of it becomes these deep teachings which Christ taught, all right? So in any event, we’ve now reached a point that we started off by talking about, is it okay to have an enjoyable, positive experience? Well, you just got a heart full and a mouth full.

Of course, it’s okay. It’s not about renunciation. It’s about wisdom. And there are energies that can come in that help you, that feed you, that lift you. Don’t get attached to them because they’re conditional. But it doesn’t mean you stop them. So what’s the moral of this story? There are things that can happen that cause the energy to open.

Yes or no? Here’s how a great being lives. “Okay, I see it. Thank you. I really appreciate that happening,” and you let it go. That was a very nice experience. There’ll be others. I don’t need to cling to it. I don’t need to own it. I don’t need to trap it and make it mine. Do you understand that? Is yes, the energy comes in, and you look at her, and from the moment you try to grab, Buddhists call it clinging, from the moment you try to grab, and if you’re, you’re not there yet, but it’s okay.

Nice to hear beyond yourself, right? It comes in, you look at it, you lean back, you let it pass through. Why would I let it pass through? So that more energy can come. So the energy can learn to flow unconditionally instead of under your ownership. But most people don’t understand the Shakti flow. But you should, you’re here, we talk about it, all right?

You’ve had experiences. You know how beautiful you are inside. You’re the most beautiful thing that ever lived. But you hold yourself down with all these conditions, all right? So there’s the final, I got there. The moral of the story is positive experiences are beautiful. Don’t make them negative by trying to own them, by trying to cling to them, by trying to define them, by trying to keep them.

Let it raise you so that it raises the whole of your being. Your mind becomes clearer, your heart becomes clearer, everything becomes clearer, more open, and you just get to the point where I ain’t trading this off for anything. There’s no way in the world, period. But what if really dark times happen? Fine, let the dark times happen.

Who cares? If you’re feeling joy and love and energy inside that’s unconditional, let it get Job-like. Let it get dark. Let it get this. Let it go of this, whatever, and you learn to let go of everything. It all passes through and leaves you as it found you, intoxicated, high, merged with God. All right. We had a very deep talk tonight.

I hope you can… I have never talked about this stuff like that before. So sometimes people ask me, “What are positive experiences?” Now, it’s a bigger topic, isn’t it? It’s a big topic. There is a very beautiful experience. It’s called Sat-Chit-Ananda. It’s a name for God in the Indian culture. Sat-Chit-Ananda, eternal conscious ecstasy.

Eternal conscious ecstasy. That’s who you are. That’s what’s in there. But you block it with all the rest of this stuff. All right. Thank you. Thank you. It’s nice to talk about deep things, isn’t it?
