Managing Editor

We value being of service, a commitment to growth and transformation, exceptional teamwork and authentic connection, and being direct and kind.Sounds True is seeking a Managing Editor to coordinate the book production process from acquisition to bound book for 45+ titles per year, and to manage editorial operations.

This role is responsible for maintaining and modifying the production schedules, routing book and galley material, and disseminating up-to-date information regarding schedules, on-sale dates, and pricing.The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and be a creative problem solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Setting schedules for books, galleys, kits, and card decks, including drop-in products
  • Establishing and maintaining product timelines in consultation with relevant departments
  • Acting as production liaison across all departments involved with book production, including Art, Copy, Editorial, Production, Proofreading, eComm, and Dev
  • Managing editorial operations including the definition, maintenance, and documentation of processes (e.g. transmittal, art logs, permissions, citations)
  • Conducting trainings and check-ins with editors on processes and deadlines as needed
  • Reviewing all transmitted manuscripts to ensure deliverables and stipulations have been met
  • Routing book materials including jacket copy, sample pages, roughs, and printer proofs
  • Setting up and maintaining title records
  • Coordinating the production of bound galleys and trade catalogs for Editorial, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales
  • Working closely with the marketing department to ensure that metadata is ready to be released to accounts within the industry-desired time frame.
  • Scheduling and running relevant seasonal meetings
  • Conducting weekly production status meetings with appropriate teams
  • Establishing and maintaining interdepartmental relationships to help achieve departmental and corporate goals

Candidate should have:

  • Minimum of four years of publishing experience; experience in managing editorial, production, or production editorial a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, including a strong ability to interact with employees across various departments
  • Superb organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize to meet goals and timelines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Firebrand and/or Jira a plus

Publicity/Marketing Coordinator

Sounds True, a multimedia publisher offering transformational programs to help you live a more genuine, loving, and meaningful life, seeks a highly motivated publicist/marketing professional with a track record of delivering successful campaigns.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support publicity team with pitches and help secure top national and local media, including print, television, online, and radio
  • Proactively work to identify effective PR opportunities for Sounds True products and authors
  • Develop and sustain excellent media relations in various markets specific to Sounds True products and authors
  • Write press materials and manage time-sensitive publicity mailings
  • Coordinate author events/appearances, including author travel and bookstore communication
  • Research and update media contacts and update in-house Publicity Report daily
  • Manage select marketing projects across various internal teams, including galley giveaways on social platforms
  • Communicate effectively with authors and publicity, marketing, sales, and creative teams

Requirements:

  • Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills(social media skills are a plus)
  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle a multitude of tasks
  • Possess a deep knowledge of highly trafficked blogs and new media platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience

AV Production Manager

Sounds True, a spiritually based multimedia publishing company, seeks a full-time AV Production Manager to join our creative division. The AV Production Manager will lead the AV technical production teams in managing, scheduling, tracking, and producing Sounds True’s audio and video content.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervising department deliverables and team member schedules
  • Managing and tracking the department’s budget
  • Maintaining the in-house recording studio and AV equipment
  • Editing audio and video for various Sounds True products
  • Working with the company’s producers to execute video shoots and audio recordings
  • Technical directing, audio engineering, or otherwise supporting live-streaming productions
  • Encouraging the professional growth and development of team members

The ideal candidate:

  • Is highly proficient at managing others and has an interest in maintaining a strong team

Senior Social Media Manager

Sounds True, a growing multimedia publishing company specializing in spirituality and holistic living, is looking for a Senior Social Media Manager to add to our digital marketing team.

Success in this role requires strategic thinking in the paid social space and mobile marketing, along with building ambitious plans and goals executed daily at the highest level. You will need to understand the breadth and depth of Sounds True's business, and identify how to acquire customers at scale via paid and organic social media and driving to cost per acquisition targets. You’ll be responsible for building and executing campaigns to deliver results with data-driven analyses. You will need to be entrepreneurial and roll up your sleeves, as you will manage and optimize campaigns both aligned to media and creative.

Primary responsibilities include:

Own the development of a strategic social media marketing plan and its associated budget across campaigns and channels: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.

  • Oversee paid search vendor and manage those campaigns.
  • Work with agencies, publishers, platforms (directly and indirectly) and other partners with the goal to find fast, creative, and efficient ways to build, execute, and measure innovative social media marketing plans. These plans should connect with customers, maximize engagement, and create sharing, advocacy, and connection.
  • Work collaboratively across business units to develop and execute creative ideas, plans, and strategies.
  • Implement continuous paid social testing and experimentation.
  • Provide inspirational and creative leadership on ways to reach and gain attention of target audiences.
  • Plan and manage campaign execution: on time, on budget, and to scope.
  • Utilize communication and collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust up, down, and across the company.
  • Manage and report on ad campaigns, content posts, and funnels.
  • Track, analyze, and optimize the ongoing performance of all marketing efforts, including ads, funnels, and social media posts.
  • Stay on top of new techniques and changes in the market, which you’ll incorporate and test in our marketing.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant digital marketing experience.
  • Experience managing a team and working with various external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Paid search vendor management experience.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal direct supervision, and to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills with an ability to mine data to inform decisions.
  • Experience Facebook marketing, with advanced knowledge of monetizing digital content.
  • Experience managing Facebook business pages.
  • Experience running targeted, high-spend, high-return ad campaigns, specifically on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Experience and knowledge of funnel marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of testing practices, including A/B, multivariate, etc.
  • Ability to have a big-picture view while executing and managing details.
  • Proficiency with Facebook Ad Manager.
  • Experience with Google, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Pinterest is a plus.

Affiliate and Business Development Manager

The Affiliate and Business Development Manager will own all partnership outreach and management within Sounds True. This role will be responsible for setup, tracking, developing, and executing our affiliate partnerships and agreements. The right candidate will seek out new opportunities for Sounds True, adding value by launching new partnerships that serve our demographic and psychographic profiles.

In this role, you are considered a dealmaker and will regularly reach out to new and existing affiliates, developing strong relationships, and providing value to Sounds True and our affiliate partners through exchanges. You will navigate affiliate requests with creativity, the spirit of cooperation, and mutual respect. Ultimately, your success will be measured not just by the success of our affiliate exchanges but by their ongoing management and the efficiency with which the deals are executed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop strategic partnerships seeking to grow the reach of the business
