- Learn several different meditation techniques to promote concentration, let go of painful past experiences, and promote a more positive outlook
- A scientific overview of the structure of your brain and which areas are responsible for our different skills and emotions
Drawing on a vast body of research spanning more than 30 years, Hanson and Mendius show you how to strengthen the neural circuits that generate happiness, love, and inner peace. Has worked wonders for me Review by Shy
The meditations on this CD have helped me regenerate neural pathways in my brain allowing me greater happiness and greater connection to others.
I have suffered from a lot of social deficits in connecting to others and being happy with myself. I believe I have a damaged brain and have noticed vast improvements from this product.
I had previously done meditations from an anxiety workbook and noticed steady but gradual improvement. Some of the exercises here were immediately noticeable helping my psyche. (Posted on November 23, 2016)
Perfect for me Review by DLBK
I understood, from therapy, that I had developed negative neural pathways that blocked my ability to sleep, but I didn't know what to do about it. Now I do, thanks to Rick Hanson's and Richard Mendius's intelligent, scientific methods in "Meditations to Change Your Brain
-- Rewire Your Neural Pathways to Transform Your Life." I practice what I've learned in Sessions One, Two, and Three during waking hours, but I find that Session Four is ideal for me at bedtime. Dr. Hanson's cheery voice and thought-provoking instructions might keep some people awake, but for me, they banish my worries and I fall asleep "taking in the good." (Posted on May 8, 2016)
Fantastic, a life saver! Review by RR
This series combining neuroscience and meditation saved me after a year of depression and anxiety following the end of a love relationship. No more overwhelming crying spells or anxiety bouts. Highly recommended to restore positive balance to anyone who is struggling with either problem. As a lover of biology, the scientific evidence won me over and made me pay close attention at the start. Fantastic work. DO Not hesitate to improve your life. These authors literally changed my life! Interesting audio CD Review by Jenny
I enjoyed listening to this book and it made me become more interested in neuropsychology. I don't know if my brain has changed or not from listening to it. It was very informative. This is a good book to buy if you want to know more about how your brain interacts with your psyche and body. I would recommend this book to someone who interested in learning about their brain structure, habits, and cognitive function in regard to neural physiology. I would also recommend this book to psychologists and doctors as it makes some good points that you could use to benefit you, your patients, or your practice. (Posted on August 3, 2015)
Disappointed Review by Gracie girl
I thought this CD would be actual meditations but after puri handing it from Amazon discovered that Ito was a lecture type format on the benefits of meditation. (Posted on June 4, 2015)
Review for Meditations to Change Your Brain Review by Jack G
This program gives practical advise on how to change the way you think and subsequently feel emotionally about events in your life that you may have had a difficult time dealing with. Also, ideas are presented on how to deal with stress to create a better focus on a balanced life. I highly recommend listing to this program while you perform a low impact exercise such as walking. Walk your way to a calmer mind. (Posted on May 13, 2014)
Review for Meditations to Change Your Brain Review by Kaye A
My rating reflects quality of service and downloads from Sounds True as well as the product. If I were rating the product alone, there'd be 4 stars. But, if I were rating Sounds True alone, I would give them zero stars! I'll give you my opinion of both.
This program by Rick Hanson is pretty good. It peers at meditation from a different angle and provides good insight on what happens over time (in the brain) when you practice. There is one meditation in particular that talks you through holding the positive experience of meditation in mind while also keeping a negative memory/event/situation or current fear in the back of your mind. They say doing this helps to "desensitize" us to the negative feelings brought on by the memory/event.
As for Sounds True... well. Each track of this program is chopped off ... the authors are speaking and mid-sentence they are cut off and the next track begins. I have no idea what I missed or how incomplete the downloads are. I purchased a DVD download at the same time and couldn't get it to completely download either. I called Sounds True and here's what happened: They wanted to do a test ... they called me back several hours later to say they downloaded it successfully so it must be a problem on my end and to try again... I tried again and the same thing happened. I asked for a refund and had to call several times before I received it. Very disappointing experience. Please know I purchase digital products online with other merchants and have no problems getting complete downloads (e.g., amazon, iTunes, software companies, etc.). (Posted on April 4, 2014)

Geat lecture in the 1st chapter. Good guided meditation in the following chapters. Got a bit repeated. Expected more lectures than what is provided. (Posted on January 15, 2014)

Sadly lacks the deep guided meditations I was hoping for, what is your return policy? Everything else with the order was wonderful. (Posted on December 27, 2013)
