"I first composed this music for myself as an adjunct to meditation, t'ai chi, bodywork, and as music to play in the background of life—to replace the everyday cacophony with new and ordered sounds of an unpredictable nature. I hope you find as much use for this music as I have in both writing and listening to it and exploring inner spaces."—Lou Reed, NYC, October 2006

Lou Reed's fans have learned to expect the unexpected, but his latest work may still come as a surprise. After four decades in the rock spotlight, Lou Reed has turned his attention to the world of meditation music, inviting listeners on a relaxing journey to the hidden territory of his inner landscape. With Hudson River Wind Meditations, the iconic "art rocker" presents his first album created specifically for quiet contemplation.

A practitioner of t'ai chi for many years, Lou brings his unique sensitivity and knowledge of a broad spectrum of music genres to provide a tranquil bed of soothing harmonics that open the heart and settle the mind. The pieces on this hypnotic album wash away tension and negative energy with sparse instrumentation and subtle waves of electronic sound.

the wind blows where it chooses Review by Henry

ok, so it's a fan over a bass guitar and a hair dryer over an electric guitar, but you get out what you put in: 'the music of Orpheus'. I think it is great. Listen

This album was well produced, but is just not my cup of tea - at this time.

As I listened to this I wondered what was he thinking when he created this. He wasn't thinking though, he was listening to what resonated with his heart and soul and it works for him. I feel that every genertion comes in with a different blueprint and we all hear sound differently, and especially musicians because they are sensitive to sound and hear what we may not hear. Although this does resonate with me, I can appreciate that there are others who will hear what he heard when he created this, and they will be happy to purchase this cd.

Lou Reed. You should be ashamed of yourself. I love ambient music but this is absolutely dreadful

I've listened to & own a wide variety of Meditation music as well as "New Age", Instrumental & "Mood" music but this is lacking any true Creativity, dimension & mood, unless distraction is a mood. Very un-involved...miss Tangerine Dream along w/many others...sorry, if you will, for the hard truth....

I am about to order this, so I haven't listened in entirety yet, however I LOVE the samples and am thrilled & surpised -- I do meditative massage work & this is exactly what I was looking for. I also use this type of "non-predictive" music as an Rx for people who need to get out of their heads.

Sorry but I found this very uninspiring.
