Full Description

 Course objectives:

  • Identify the four "near-enemies."
  • Employ the "four foundations of mindfulness."
  • Specify the steps of the Eightfold Path.
  • Predict the "five difficult energies."
  • Summarize what the point of meditation is, and what the point isn't.

Meditation is not a means of self-improvement. It is a way of discovering the truth and relating to it with compassion and honesty. Awaken to a richer spiritual life with The Inner Art of Meditation, a comprehensive six-CD study course about vipassana (or insight) meditation from Jack Kornfield. Of the two major schools of meditation, this is the one that teaches you the art of creating a foundation of awareness in your daily life. Zen monks draw from these same principles in their practice.

This is how to become fully mindful in your life—aware of your inseparability with all things and fully conscious that your actions in the moment create the patterns in your life. Distilled from a five-week workshop, this complete course offers more than seven hours of intensive, personal instruction from this respected meditation teacher and clinical psychologist.

Similar to his others

I have heard these stories and instructions before in many forms. I was looking for some new artistic insights and support.

may favorite so far

I have purchased several teaching CD sets from Sounds True, so happy to have found this site. Of all the sets I have gotten so far, this is my favorite one. I will be listening to it over and over. I will also get a couple more to give out as gifts. It truly is a gift.

Review for The Inner Art of Meditation

Jack Kornfield and his work is wise, calming and insightful -- his many years of work in Buddhism and psychotherapy bring a great deal of understanding on multiple levels to his work. I love listening to him--it's dharma training for me, for sure, and essential on the path toward greater understanding for me.

Review for The Inner Art of Meditation

It is the best introduction to meditation program I have ever listened to. I had originally borrowed it from the library but it was so good I have decided to purchase it. I listen to it often one or twice every month or so. Great, great content.
