One at Last
One at Last was founded by Jaya Lakshmi, Deva Priyo, and Om in Maui under the name of Lost at Last in 1996, and moved to San Francisco in 1998, rising quickly to become one of the hottest alternative acts in the Bay Area. Their first performance at the Burning Man festival has become a legend in the history of the event. Jaya Lakshmi (Ocean of Mercy, Sequoia Records 2003) has been described as a sleek space gypsy—a musical adventurer who draws upon her degree in anthropology and knowledge of shamanic traditions to enrich her ethereal vocal and instrumental performances. Deva Priyo, who also founded the organic trance group Gipsy Moon, brings his mind-bending virtuosity to the band with his performances on Flamenco guitar, electric guitar, sarod, berimbau and numerous percussion instruments.
