Embracing All of You
I got a lot out of watching this series.
Join Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Richard C. Schwartz for Embracing All of You: Compassionate Inquiry Meets Internal Family Systems, hosted by Sounds True founder Tami Simon. Within the framework of a guided, critically-reflective experience, students are shown how to transmute fear, trauma and sadness with self-compassion and deep insight.
In these intimate dialogues, two renowned names in therapeutic healing, self-awareness, and growth will come together to discuss their approaches, answer questions, and offer practical exercises you can implement in your day to day life.
Acclaimed worldwide for their revolutionary approaches to family and individual healing, Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Richard C. Schwartz offer unique perspectives and meaningful insights to their students, patients, and peers.
Gabor Maté, MD, is an author, speaker, and physician who specializes in addiction, stress, and childhood development. His many books include In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts and When the Body Says No. His signature psychotherapeutic approach, Compassionate Inquiry, reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.
Richard C. Schwartz, PhD, coauthored the most widely used family therapy text in the United States, Family Therapy: Concepts and Methods, and is the creator of the Internal Family Systems model, which he developed in response to clients’ descriptions of various “parts” within themselves.
Hosted by Sounds True founder Tami Simon, Dr. Maté and Dr. Schwartz will outline the similarities and differences between their proprietary methods:
Internal Family Systems—a profound psychotherapy model that shows us how healing and liberating it is to enter our inner world, and to lovingly care for the pain and inner struggles that haunt us.
Compassionate Inquiry—a psychotherapeutic approach that demystifies medical science and invites us to be our own health advocate.
By learning internal family systems and compassionate inquiry, we enhance our capacity to live a healthy and happy life. Gabor and Richard have already seen the impact of this work on thousands of clients and approach this course with the intention of providing you with valuable information to support you as a lifelong resource.

I got a lot out of watching this series.
I had been minimally acquainted with IFS and that had seemed intriguing - what originally drew me to take the course. It was ultimately the Compassionate Inquiry that blew me away. I realize there are more similarities than differences. That being said, someone who works very much from intuition and not generally drawn to structure was somehow more drawn to CI. In fact it is my intention to pursue Gabor's short course
I liked it a lot. I liked the two main presenters and the link or facilitator; and I thought they did an excellent job. It was harmonized but not artificial - it was gentle and authentic. I had a bit of concern in the beginning re the two methods.... but truly it turned out to be both had the deep intention to help and the different approaches harmonized and could easily be also used together.
Tami did an excellent job as the catalyst and tying things through clarification or suggestion and timing.
Well done. I was worried that it might feel cliched and forced but not at all.
Good program . Very helpful.
I am a Gabor Maté fan and having him presented together with Richard Schwartz deepened my understanding of Maté thanks to the language they use is so different. Emotional vs. analytic. Being an analytic myself it helped me to understand the truth of not being met in my need as a 100 % emotional child.
Very powerful. Thank you.
Since I am professionally 'in the field', although retired but still active in following and practicing psychotherapy, I found those sessions and parallel analysis of those two approaches very inspiring and really unique to witness.
Thank you for this experience.
