Return to the roots of the Enneagram found in the teachings of the Desert Fathers.
Full Description

Fr. Richard Rohr and Russ Hudson offer a deep study of the Enneagram as a powerful spiritual tool. The Enneagram has become many things to many people, but its roots are profoundly spiritual and are based in the studies of the Desert Fathers, the world’s first Christian monastics. At its core, the Enneagram addresses the question of how we fail to recognize the presence of Grace in our lives. It helps us see the psychological issues that cause us to forget the Divine Presence here in each moment.

Real transformation—real conversion—requires an awakening to ourselves, as well as taking the journey of discovering the ways in which our soul has become entangled and confused. Gaining clear self-knowledge is a crucial step in this process of becoming fully human, and in this endeavor the Enneagram is an enormously important aid and tool of remembrance. Rohr and Hudson offer lectures and practices to nurture transformation for ourselves, compassion for our companions, and prayer for the world.

In this program, Rohr and Hudson invite us to view our gifts and their distortions with Grace, opening ourselves to Presence.

Oh get Richard Rohr OUT OF THE ROOM!

I'm four hours in and thinking this is a fantastic platform - if only Russ had been lecturing alone. Richard Rohr rants about politics and god knows what (who can keep up? who cares to?), and religionises non-stop, he talks about himself nonstop - in a completely indulgent way (if you are an enneagram 1, as he is, you'll probably feel you got your money's worth here because he talks incessantly about himself under the guise of describing ones) - he rants and rants about nothing to do with the enneagram, and condescendingly (iMH) refers to his audience (i consider myself his audience) as "brothers and sisters" - I get that he's a priest, or something, but just STOP patronising us please... and generally he just absolutely railroads Russ's terrific, concise, considered, thoroughly contemplated, deeply probing insights into how we humans might move from program/conditioned-mind living to liberation/grace. I'm not saying Richard doesnt bring some keen insights he does - but there is bulk verbage padding around them, and I'd far prefer Russ to be holding the floor. (or that might just be because i'm a 5 like Russ, so I dig his style ;-) I jest, I think Russ seems far less in his program/number type than Richard does - Richard screams 'disintegrated one' to me, the entire time... I'm gonna keep listening though bc Russ is worth hearing. His insights are pure gold.

Review for The Enneagram and Grace

Its hard to describe just how moving and profound I found this teaching. I thought I was going to learn about the enneagram but what I got from this was so deep I feel changed. Russ Hudson's talks especially struck like a bolt of lightening in my heart. There is a quality of transmission here which i find hard to make sense of rationally since this is just an audio recording, but there you go, that's what it felt like to me. Hearing these two teachers together is a brilliant gift. The audio quality is sometimes a little variable, needing volume adjustment, but this makes little difference when the quality of the teaching is this pristine.
