Glen Velez
Glen Velez is an internationally recognized master drummer, composer, scholar, and teacher who has merged his background in Western percussion with the study of frame drum performance styles. In creating his own music, he draws on drumming techniques from South India, Asia, Egypt, and elsewhere. Nine albums of his original music are available, along with several instructional videos. Glen Velez developed and teaches the Handance system of frame drumming, which integrates rhythm, movement, and vocalization for mental and physical toning. A member of the Paul Winter Consort from 1983 to 1998, he has also recorded with Steve Reich, Pat Metheny, Suzanne Vega, Richard Stoltzman, and others on various major record labels.
