About Jon Kabat-Zinn

Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, is professor of medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the founder and director of its renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic. His clinic was featured in 1993 in the public television series Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers. Jon Kabat-Zinn is the author of 15 books, in print in over 45 languages. These include Full Catastrophe LivingWherever You Go, There You Are; Coming to Our Senses; and Mindfulness for Beginners.

It's been very helpful. I mostly listen to the body scan first thing on waking and last thing at night. My mind wanders a lot so I know I need the practise and it's my work to return to the body scan.

Opening to our lives

I have gained a deeper practice of mindfulness, meditation, and breathing in Jon Kabot-Zinn,s course. It will be a practice I will continue. His information, explanations and direction was easy to understand and follow. I supplemented with the books he suggested and journaled throughout the program.

I did have difficulty with accessing the program on line and eventually needed help from Sounds True. With the exception of session 3, I was unable to access any of the recordings. They never played. I could not follow along on the meditation portion of the first session as a result. I meditated on my own and I read the transcript afterwards. I read the transcription of the recordings in the rest of the sessions also. I was able to access the videos.

Opening To Our Lives

I have gained insight to my spiritual needs and growth in the practice of mindfulness. I enjoyed this program by Jon Cabot Zinn. He was the first author I read on the topic and it is straight forward, useful, and helpful.

At first I had difficulty with accessing the program. With the help of Sounds True Customer Service it was remedied quickly.

I appreciated being able to pay in increments.

Opening to Our Lives: Jon Kabat Zinn

Jon is a master meditator. I really respect him.

That said, I feel like some meditation is taught with restrictive standards. You must sit this way and your knees must be down and spine erect... etc. This can be helpful but I find it off putting as well. I think people need the space and freedom to approach meditation with their own style. I do appreciate his deep knowledge but I am modifying some of his recommendations.
