The Creative Fire
I liked learning about the archetypes that exist in our consciousness that respond and sabotoge creativity.
In Search of La Chispa: The Elemental Source of Your Creativity
An expanded edition of the classic on creativity by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, this spoken-word masterpiece guides you through the dark labyrinths of the psyche in search of la chispa—the ember that is the elemental source of all creative work.
Dr. Estés teaches about the hidden aspects of creativity, including the negative complexes that prey upon creative energy. The Creative Fire includes many special insights for people who create for a living: artists, writers, teachers, and others who must depend on their creative instincts every day.

I love anything and everything by Dr. E, including being with her live in person at her intensives!
For me, "The Creative Fire" is one of my absolute favorites. I am both a performing artist and an ordained minister. Both "sides" of me benefit immensely from this work, and I go back to it time and again. I am always left centered, eager, and energized.
A few reviewers have commented negatively about the effect of her voice on them. I respect their experience and genuinely am disappointed for them -but it is most certainly true that, "to each their own." For my part I love her voice! I have even noticed (with some amusement) that at times in preaching or other speaking in public that I am saying things with distinctively "Estéan" overtones!
Years ago, I purchased The Creative Fire audio cassettes. The Creative Fire is invaluable for explaining the Jungian concept of inner "parts." At least the original recording (and, I hope, this one) contains a wonderful 10 minute description of active imagination. Integral to the SoulCollage® process is the "I Am One Who..." exercise, unique to SoulCollage® and, therefore, a new experience for many people. Clarissa distills the idea of inner voices in a user-friendly way that clarified for my SoulCollage® workshop participants the concept of speaking from intuitively selected images. The result is accessing dormant soul wisdom and reclaiming parts of ourselves buried in the process of growing up. Speaking to some of the critical reviews, I had a different experience of Clarissa's voice; to me, it is calming and exudes compassion, experience and the soul strength that comes with self-knowledge and a deeply, generously lived life.
very moving and so insightful and inspiring
I find her voice and delivery irritating. I'm sure she has a big following. She just doesn't appeal to me.
