Review for Touching the Earth
Great CD. I havb been using this weekly for our meditation group.
One of the most powerful acts of devotion is also one of the most simple: bowing down and surrendering to the earth. This is the basis for the Five Prostrations, a time-honored Buddhist meditation practice that joins the mind and body.
On Touching the Earth, Buddhist masters Thich Nhat Hanh and Sister Chân Không update this ancient teaching for the modern student. You learn each phase of this practice, which will help empty your body of resentment while opening it to compassion for all life.
Through the songs of Sister Chân Không (whom Thich Nhat Hanh has called a living bodhisattva, or one dedicated to the enlightenment of all beings), you also gain an ancient Buddhist technique for communicating tenderness and healing to your body. Touching the Earth comes to you with a foldout explaining this artful meditation in detail.

Great CD. I havb been using this weekly for our meditation group.
The Five Touches is exactly what I was looking for. The guided meditation restores perspective and balance and makes sufficient space for healing.
TNH's part is calming, peacefully urging us to gently surrender as he describes the intent of the 5 prostrations. He does not describe how to do the prostrations, just the meaning and what you're to be clearing. 5 stars for this part.
The second half is a woman singing. I'm not sure about what, it's a shrill asian tone that doesn't settle with me. So because of this, I'm giving 4 stars. Buy it on sale is my recommendation!
Have always loved Hanh's work. Did not enjoy the deep relaxation at all. Female voice was just not soothing to me.
This recording is a favorite in our household, and I have shared it with friends many times. At times in my life, I have listened to the deep relaxation soundtrack daily as a way to ground myself before entering the workplace, or before going to sleep. The Touching the Earth practice is moving, profound, and beautiful. This is a wonderful recording both for those who have already practiced with Thich Nhat Hanh and Sister Chan Khong, and those new to these wise, gentle teachers.
