Are You Ready to Raise a Ruckus?

You’re probably good at your job, maybe even great. But secretly, do you yearn to fly higher? To challenge the rules and surprise us with something remarkable? To instigate delight, connection, and real change? To choose better over safer?

Business and cultural visionary Seth Godin has transformed the terrain of marketing and commerce more than once. But many of his readers remain stuck in their own work lives. So what’s keeping us back?

“The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge or skill,” he’s realized. “The problem is fear.”

With Leap First, Seth Godin is here to help. This immersive audio program invites us to learn with him personally, unrehearsed and in the moment, as he shines a light for us, not with answers but with questions on the road to:

• Overcoming our instinctual resistance to risk and change

• Discovering our creative genius in the face of the empty page or whiteboard

• Finding the courage to share that work—with vulnerability, generosity, and results

Recorded in an intimate gathering of aspiring entrepreneurs, writers, and leaders, Leap First teaches us 49 essential principles, practices, and life lessons that have helped Seth the most in his own work and life.

More than an audiobook or keynote speech, each track here presents a carefully chosen catalyst intended to trigger our own passion and insight with each listening.

“It always feels too soon to leap. But you have to. Because that’s the moment between you and remarkable. I hope this helps you return to that edge. And then, to leap.”

Awesome! Review by Me Leaping 2

The best money I have spend while thinking through what to do next, after loosing my current job.

I have listened to it several times, and each round has surfaced deeper golden nuggets of insight. I'll be playing this recording often so that it keeps nudging me to leap every day.

A great journey with proven idea gems Review by joeovip

Seth does it again, in calm and clear voice, sharing ideas that will empower you to think and leap towards working and shipping with intention. I consider myself a student of Seth's concepts, ideas and work, if you are like me you will find it refreshing and with sharpened insights, if you are new, prepare to live and work in a truly different way.

deliciously human ~ Review by Paz

Seth just has a way of being, speaking, engaging and interacting with an audience which brings forth illumination. Not only will I listen to this over and over, I recommend listening to this over and over.
I'm thankful everyday for what Seth puts out into the world!

Brilliant blend of personal development, business, and spirituality Review by Jason

I'm kind of in aww of this recording. It's one of those things that if I were 10x smarter than I am, this is exactly what I would produce.

If you are an entrepreneur, artist, leader, writer, or anyone else who has opted to go off the beaten path (or even if you are just thinking of dipping your toe in the water) get this recording.

Seth's insight's are priceless. He could have easily sold this for much, much more money. It's an act of generosity that he (along with Sounds True) have made this so affordable. Furthermore, Seth is donating all of his royalties to the Acumen Fund.

Stop thinking about buying this, and buy it. It will improve your life and your thinking.

Who's this for and why would want to listen to it? Review by AndrewY

Hi, Andrew here, one of the Sounds True staff writers. I wrote the description on the main page for this audio, but it has helped me so much personally that I wanted to add my own two cents (okay, six actually):

1. I’m also a long-time aspiring fine art photographer who’s been nervous about putting my stuff out there. I mean, there are already SO many amazing visual artists online and in galleries. Plus it's SCARY. Then I read Seth Godin's book “Linchpin" and it made me realize that bringing BEAUTY AND DELIGHT into the world is just as important as sharing compassion and wisdom. But it was this audio that actually gave me the guts to “leap.” The response has been extraordinary (yep, both good and bad) but I am glad that I did.

2. Listening to this program has also inspired me in my writing and marketing work to find more direct and human ways of connecting with you guys (listeners and readers who are into serious spiritual insights). In fact, it’s the main reason why I decided to post this review.

3. For years I’ve turned to Seth Godin for his marketing insights and his eerily accurate predictions about our changing global culture and economy—but I was totally surprised to hear how much CONTEMPLATIVE WISDOM informs his work. In this audio, for example, he applies Pema Chodron’s teachings on “SHENPA” and "PRAJNA" to facing our fears in very useful ways.

4. I didn’t have room to squeeze it into the product description blurb, but one of the most valuable “aha!” topics for me in this recording is about ENJOYING AMBIGUITY. Check out the tracks titled “In the hallway” and “In between the panels.”

5. Seth also gets bonus points here for drawing upon two of my non-spirituality-category heroes: MILES DAVIS (as troubled a genius as he was), and SCOTT McCLOUD (his "graphic novel" UNDERSTANDING COMICS is a revelation into how visual art and storytelling work...but that’s another product review).

6. Two CDs would seem too short to be really valuable. But after my first “just for fun” listen I went through a second time, pausing to reflect and brainstorm on paper. I surprised myself with how much I got out of that process.

THE SHORT REVIEW: I’ve listened to dozens of “career self-help” and “creativity” audios in my job and for personal pleasure. This is one of my favorites.

Hope that was useful. If you have questions about “Leap First,” feel free to email me at andrewy@soundstrue.com and I’ll try my best to answer (between lots of writing jobs). If you find my answers helpful, I’ll post ‘em all in a Sounds True blog entry and add a link here. May you take flight with your own aspirations! - Andrew

Don't make gods out of your tools Review by Nametagscott

Exactly the kind of resource I needed to kick first quarter into high gear. Although I took pages and pages of great notes, one theme in particular resonated with me: "We're fooling ourselves into thinking we need really nice tools to make art. But we don’t need tools, we need to care."

Hurry and download this. Worth every second.

Thanks Seth!

Unlike Any Other Audiobook Review by Matt Jarvis

This is not your typical audiobook; it is so much better. Recorded in front of a live audience, the book contains Seth's most relevant and powerful insights. Each point is self-contained, often in 2 minutes or less, making them easy to return to later or share, but they are part of one fluid presentation. If you're already familiar with Seth's work, you'll delight in how he has honed his ideas and surely take some new insight away from each listen. If this is your first exposure to Seth, enjoy and get ready to tell yourself a whole new story about how you live, work, and create.
