What is it that makes yoga practitioners feel so good after a session—more so than after other kinds of exercise or stretching? "Yoga was created to directly stimulate and move us at the energetic level," teaches Lauren Walker. Yet many of us don't have the time to spare for the kind of extensive regular practice we'd need to gain the full benefits yoga was meant to offer. That's why Walker created Energy Medicine Yoga—a breakthrough book that combines yoga with the most effective techniques of energy medicine to vastly increase the healing power of your practice.
Created for yoga practitioners of any background or experience—even complete newcomers—this clear, easy-to-use guidebook features:
- Energy medicine essentials—key concepts about your subtle anatomy and its profound influence on your physical, emotional, and spiritual health
- An eight-week learning plan for working with your body's energy systems—with practices focused on your meridians, chakras, vibrational field, and more
- Power poses—the most valuable "if you do nothing else, do these" techniques for each of your body's energy systems
- The 20-minute template—putting it all together to create your own custom-made, supercharged daily practice
Lauren Walker has adapted the renowned energy medicine methods pioneered by her own teacher, Donna Eden, so they integrate seamlessly into yoga movements and postures. "Energy medicine yoga teaches you to take the things you're doing now, layer them together with complementary techniques, and exponentially increase the benefits of your practice," Walker explains. "You'll learn to work smarter, not harder—so you can have a healthy body full of energy, zest, and joy for what life has to offer."

Rethinking the fundamentals Review by Hil
I found this book to be the most empowering yoga method I’ve ever explored. It applies the deeply rooted methods of Eden’s brilliance with the ancient asana practice. Love it and inspired to study more of this for my yoga classes and my personal practice. Grateful for this well-written guide to renew my yoga experience. (Posted on September 12, 2018)
The book needs a lot more photos! Review by snowyowl
I have been practicing Energy Medicine and Yoga, separately, for more than 18 years, and was excited to learn how Lauren combined these practices. I purchased the book when it was first released (before there were public reviews). I really enjoyed the beginning of her book. The Intro was great and Week 1 exercises were easy to follow. But, I lost interest when I got to Week 2's routine, as there were not enough images to show what she was describing. It makes me question if Sounds True had anyone edit the content for user friendliness.
I just noticed that Lauren now sells an additional video product as a companion to the book. I suggest offering the video download to those who purchased the book, rather than marketing it as an additional product to make up for the shortcomings of the editing process.
I continue to practice Lauren's week 1 routine and supplement my energy practice with other EM routines offered for free online by Donna Eden and some of Donna's other students. I commend Lauren for the creative efforts and her articulate way of presenting the yoga and EM theory, however, I hope the issues that I (and some of the others who have purchased the book) have with her ability to give practical instructions will be fixed in a second edition and/or that she will consider offering her video free of charge on her website.

Amazing Review by Lynn
This book is amazing! I agree with everything Peg wrote. Thank you Lauren Walker. (Posted on June 25, 2015)
Update of previous review Review by Peg
I wrote my previous review before I actually read the book. Sorry about that! I read the other reviews and was swayed by them. But I decided to buy the book despite those reviews and I'm really glad I did. The descriptions and illustrations in the book are excellent. Sometimes it takes a couple of readings to understand an exercise and maybe I'm not doing them perfectly, but if I try to align with and focus on the intention I think I'm doing OK. I highly recommend this book. I already bought a second copy for a friend and fellow yoga teacher. (Posted on June 12, 2015)
Where is the video? Review by luckyonethree
I was so excited to see the combination of Energy Medicine and Yoga...both very beneficial for me. I bought the ebook as soon as I could. However, I really couldn't follow the written descriptions of the exercises. I keep looking for the video to come out so I can go back to it. I pretty sure that I read somewhere that a video was coming? (Posted on May 30, 2015)
Most helpful! Review by Bear
I'm familiar with energy healing and yoga, both conceptually and experientially - but I'm not a super advanced student of either. I'm also a 59 year old office worker who needs to stay energized and lose some weight, and I'm absolutely loving this creative, open-minded book.
The descriptions of energy systems are complete enough to easily grasp and not overloaded with too much information. This is an excellent book for anyone who is sensitive to subtle energy, or wants to become more sensitive, and wants to incorporate that awareness into their yoga practice, into their body-minds. This is exactly what I wanted to do and didn't know how to - until now.
The only complaint I have is that I was unable to understand some of the exercises (such as doing the Celtic Weave in a forward bend)from the text alone. More illustrations, or better yet a DVD are needed, at least by me. If Lauren produces a DVD I'll buy it in a hot minute! (Posted on May 14, 2015)
Loved the Interview Review by Peg
Tammy - I loved your interview with Lauren Walker and am very interested in learning more about her techniques. After reading the reviews, though, I will also wait for the video. I hope you will let us all know when a video is available. (Posted on April 4, 2015)
Video would be helpful Review by Debby
After I watched the two minute sample, I was ready to buy the video/audio, however I see that it is only the book. Thank you for considering making a video of her process! (Posted on March 22, 2015)
waiting for the video Review by suzi
I was so excited to read of a blending of Energy Medicine and Yoga. What a perfect amalgamation! Fully prepared to order the book, I previewed the submitted customer reviews. Rather than become frustrated by not grasping the written explanation, I, too, will wait for the video. (Posted on March 18, 2015)
Great ideas Review by Deanna
I love this book and the ideas, but as several others have said it can be difficult to know if you are doing things correctly based on the descriptions in the book. I am a yoga teacher and still found some exercises confusing. There were some I could follow easily. Looking forward to seeing a video sometime. (Posted on March 16, 2015)
